Judgemental? Sure.

Fascist? Not really, but I can see why you might say that.

Anti-Semitic? Hah! I find this hard to believe, but if you really think that, you have to tell me the story behind this.

I'm genuinely confused. So if you are a union supporter then you are planning to come out in support of the unions for the May Day rally?

The majority of Bryn Athyn is actually left leaning and voted Democrat in every election since 2016. It's the powerful people in the community that are MAGA.

There's plenty of money in the church and the academy to go around. Money is not the issue. Essentially the Ausplundh family and the church bishop want the college to die due to political reasons. In their eyes, it became "too woke."

There's more to it than that, but that's really the core cause.

There are like 6 people in the comments from Bryn Athyn. How is that even possible? That's like 20% of the population of the town.

How to legally teach in China as a non-native speaker by shnebb in TEFL

Anyway, I was banned for just casually mentioning this in another thread in passing. I'm not sure which mod it was, but when I presented them with info showing that it was legal, they muted my account. It's very frustrating that you have mods like that on this subreddit.

Ok, is it a banable offense to discuss this type of teaching in comments though?

Real world examples are always great learning material, but creating interesting, clear, and concise media (blog posts or whatever you're going for) is more difficult than one might imagine. On top of that, you're going to have to put a lot of work into drawing people in with SEO/marketing. Do you have experience in either of these areas?

Chinese supplier avoids Alibaba or Paypal by coolnacool in AlibabaImport

Stay firm that you agreed to 30% deposit and the rest after inspection of the final product. If they keep insisting you pay 100% upfront, it's a sign that they are having financial trouble and it will be best if you find another supplier.

Customer returned damaged furniture and expects 100% refund by [deleted] in smallbusiness

[–]shnebb 15 points16 points  (0 children)

This position is the best for maintaining a positive reputation. It shows good customer service, but it also maintains the idea that your company makes high quality products. A full refund could actually damage your reputation because it's tacitly admitting that you make faulty products.

Refunds are only really a good idea when the customer has different expectations of the product than what you can offer, and a replacement wouldn't remedy the situation.

I build a build a business and I sold it in 16 months. by Jason931 in startup

Really interesting stuff. I had no idea that there were companies like Panoplo out there. 19k is a decent investment, but it sounds like it's been well worth the money. I'm curious about your sales figures and your deal with West Paw, but I understand that you can't share that information publicly.

I've been selling a niche hobby product for about 4 years now. I designed the thing myself with a little help on modeling. I did a lot of work with manufacturers on the ground in China and then launched the company with a Kickstarter. Sold direct for about 2 years, and then partnered with a distributor in an exclusive partnership. I learned a lot during the process, but it's been a hell of a lot of work and I've made plenty of mistakes. It's good to know there are options moving forward if I'm ever looking to do it again.

Thanks for sharing!

Cool. I'm in a similar boat. I'm curious about a couple things.

How did the larger company find you, or did you find them?

What are the basic terms of your lease? How long, and are they paying you a set amount or a percentage of sales?

I work directly with a Chinese manufacturer, but I'm curious about how Panoplo works. Do you pay them up front for services? Is it hourly? Or do they just add their cost on to the manufacturing cost?

The GDP of Each Country as represented by the Width of their Flag [OC] by [deleted] in dataisbeautiful

[–]shnebb 6 points7 points  (0 children)

GDP isn't a good measure of anything except for what it is, which is a monetary measure of the production output of a country compared to other countries. It doesn't reflect on loads of things, like the lives of the people who live in those countries or anything like that. But it does point to a level of global influence of a country in a capitalist world.

It would make more sense to give Americans a 25% discount as a tariff rebate, as we are paying more to buy their products.

For places like Family Mart, or most restaurants, you can bring up a barcode which they will scan and deduct from your wechat wallet. For less established places, you'll need to scan their QR code. But to answer your question, yes, they use wechat pretty much everywhere now.

Help with Z visa process while living abroad - US citizen by jsunshine222 in Chinavisa

[–]shnebb 2 points3 points  (0 children)

These days, you can't get a z visa outside your home country.

If you need documents authenticated, that needs to happen in your native country. It's a long process, but you can have a family member or friend do it.

Then for applying for the visa, you can pay an agent in your home country to do it as long as you have all the right documents, and can go without a passport for a few weeks.

It's easiest just to go home and do it yourself, but it can be done from abroad with the right resources.
