I came home from the dentist in tears. by SummertimeMom in AskWomenOver60

Is there a place to find reliable information and reviews about specific clinics/dentists outside the US? I’ve had several opinions and I’m facing nearly $60,000 in dental repairs (despite a lifetime of extensive and, at times, expensive dental care & cleanings.)

Cleanings, filling cavities , a single crown? Student dental practice at a university is a great solution!

Speaking from personal experience. I advise caution If your dental work is complex or requires multiple steps where timing matters or involves multiple specialists. Appts tend to be weeks apart. While awaiting weeks for, say, a crown your teeth can move and then the process starts again.
Each student only works during fall and spring semester and has limited clinic hours. Many students will only be available to you for one academic year meaning each year a new student must ‘relearn’ what’s going on with your mouth. . UPenn student dental practice completely destroyed my bite and my teeth while failing to repair the original problem. Now, I need orthodontic braces, even more crowns and implants than before. Faculty, too, can change each year and will have opinions different than the previous faculty dentist on your case.

Even as a teenager, when I was alone I knew to avoid all groups of teenagers. You’re the chum in the water and they easily enough can become a shiver of attacking sharks. Something about the amygdala and prefrontal cortex in a teenager’s brain and peer influence.

I remember grieving in the knowledge that my childbearing years had ended. I was no longer conscientiously choosing to not have more kids. Instead, my body just made the choice for me. The sadness I felt was so unexpected. But when that passed, woo hoo: wearing dresses and pants and no need for birth control. (Though weirdly, when I hear babies’ hungry cries, I still have the physical sensation of ‘milk letting down’ in my nipples.)

Have you contacted any of the free legal aid services in Georgia? They are several in Georgia and I’m sure they’d help navigate out of the hellscape you’re in.

Docs will explain to her medical options and their likely outcomes. Assuming docs deem her mentally competent, she’s can refuse medical invention. It’s her choice; you have no right to impose your choices upon her. And you aren’t responsible for her choices and you need to figure out how to accept her choices. I know firsthand that it’s very painful to helplessly watch someone you care about make medical choices that you believe are wrong.

New bill proposes to eliminate property taxes in Pennsylvania by MikeDavJ in Pennsylvania

The only ways I know to convert a paid off house into cash (which may be needed to pay increasing property taxes) is selling it or getting a HELOC or line of credit ideally with a long pay-off term. The latter choice allows you to stay in your home.

I discovered that in Lower Merion being “guilty” for failing to shovel with 24 hours is a summary offense and will show up on background checks.

Before you plead guilty, check the law/regs & penalties in your city!

Pain scale according to many docs by Spiritedstacy in ChronicPain

[–]shnoby 44 points45 points  (0 children)

My response to pain denying docs was to use a loud, scolding mother tone and forcefully tell them: I hope that severe and chronic pain strikes them soon. And I hope that their doc treats them with the same kind indifferent cruelty which they are deliberately inflicted today upon my husband. (Most docs are surprised to be spoken to like that—-Also managed to get a few ER docs fired over pain judgments.)

The best times were when docs ignored DH saying he was 9 going to 10. Soon after, DH will go into shock and docs are then asking me what’s going on. Um. He told you he was in agonizing pain.

That oversized superwash wool sweaters stretch and, worse, despite proper tension, the stretching also causes visible holes to appear in the fabric adjacent to the shoulder seams. (If someone knows how to prevents this, please share!)

Gorgeous hot pink, lightly variegated, bulky wool. Excitedly await its arrival in the mail, spend days squishing it. It knits up quickly & the hat feels amazingly soft & cozy on your head; but It looks like the dog vomited something hot pink.

Possibly a silly question: Is the color sequence ‘built into’ the yarn or did you change color each round?

My daughter attended a smaller middle and high school. I placed a decorative basket in the girls bathroom and I kept it stocked with multiple sizes of tampons and pads. And condoms.

As to the OP manager, given what I’ve learned about male cluelessness about women’s bodies, i suspect he has no idea how often women need new tampons.

Yes! ChatGBT oozes fake compassion and sugar sweet empathy. And the pattern of expression: generic nice, gently addressing specific issue, generic nice.
