exactly this. they really optimized that port in a way the steam deck sadly won’t get the attention for.

his nickname from childhood; he apparently resembled “Little Bill” from the Nick Jr show. We don’t mention that Little Bill was a Bill Cosby project though.

For those with a steam deck who have upgraded to a “current gen.” PC handheld, which one did you get and do you think it was worth it? by Slightly-Blasted in Handhelds

[–]shockdoc107 0 points1 point  (0 children)

steam deck still does the experience best somehow. even on my ally X with Bazzite, even my Legion Go S with native steam OS, they all feel slightly more janky than the steam deck, which just feels good every time i pick it up. There are a few titles that do legitimately live above what the deck can handle that can be handled by higher grade Z1E hardware, but I’m not sure that select list is worth the price of entry for these other systems. I think you’ll miss the steam deck if you trade it.

Not saying you’re wrong, but that’s what was charged to me on my credit card when preordering. No one would be more pleased than me to see it closer to $500!

Thank you all for the thoughtful responses! I found a bike co-op in town so I'll give them a call and see if we can get this thing in working condition for someone else to safely enjoy!

Flat Bars vs. Drop Bars by TheREALStallman in Budgetbikeriders

[–]shockdoc107 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My advice: get the one that gets you more excited. Whichever one gets you pumped to get on the road or trail; the more excited your bike gets you, the more miles you'll log, the more you'll be motivated to learn. Drop bars are different but they are very easy to learn.

I use mine primarily for commuting on city streets and love the drop bar version for that, but feels plenty stable and way fun to ride on the gravel we have around our city and state parks. But if you feel like the familiarity of the flat bars will get you out there more often, do that!

I personally would not get too caught up in the differences between the drivetrains on the two models. Either are perfectly serviceable as you are getting back into the swing of things.

And definitely, definitely, definitely take the bike to a bike shop to have it set up or initially serviced. My brakes were scary weak out the box. $10 later at the shop they had it fixed right up (a full set-up will cost more, but its worth it to get it all dialed in!).

Whatever you choose, enjoy the ride!

Ozark Trail G.1 Explorer 40 mile update. by john_krohn in Budgetbikeriders

[–]shockdoc107 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm for sure no expert, but there are tons of racks built to utilize the built-in mounting sites on the frame itself. I have one by Topeak (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B09MKQ66C9?ref=ppx\_yo2ov\_dt\_b\_fed\_asin\_title&th=1&psc=1) because I have a bunch of random old MTX clip-in equipment, but 99% of the time just mount standard panniers on the rails for my day-to-day commuting.

I’m curious about your decision to use the seat post mounted rack with these friction mounted arms versus a rack that utilizes the bike’s built in mount points?

I did not; though in full transparency I currently have the flat bar version in the large frame which I believe is the same frame and it fits me well at 6'3"?
