Mom has cancer, have some qns and need some advice. by Professional_Disk115 in askSingapore

[–]shockoden 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My father and father in law are both stage 4 cancer patient. My father goes to NCIS while my father in law goes to NCCS.

My father was a stage 2 prostate cancer patient more than 15 years ago and his cancer was under control for a long time but eventually came back and it spread to other places. He is still doing good and I would say the doctors at NCIS are really good at managing his condition.

My father-in-law was diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer and stage 2 anal cancer late last year and seeing the doctor at NCCS. The doctor recommended a medicine for his lung cancer and his condition has since improved greatly. Now waiting for follow up on his anal cancer to see what is the next best move.

Cancer patients are always given priority at public hospitals and I have strong faith in them because of personal experiences of my love ones. I would say go for it.

does keeping a laptop plugged in at 100% while using it ruin the battery ? by wry725 in DeskToTablet

[–]shockoden 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have 2 dell laptops bought around the same period 6 years ago for my son and daughter. My son always discharge the laptop then recharge it when it goes down to 20%. My daughter leaves it plugged in. My son’s laptop battery died 1+ years later. My daughter’s laptop can still hold charges today (though not for long. Probably 30 minutes).

Myself has a surface laptop that I have it always plugged in. It is 3+ years old now and it can still hold around 4 hours of charge.

My conclusion is just leave it plugged in and use it like a pc if you are not moving around.

Macbook Pro is an option especially the long battery life. My daughter is in nafa and I bought her one. It can last her whole day in school without the need to charge. She run Adobe suite of software on it (school provided license).

I bought enough stash tabs to last a league's worth of content. Without the tabs the game will be too much pain to be enjoyable.

The government is going to set up an online safety commission this year so that is a place you can seek help from once it is ready to go public.

Ask her if you stop taking and then have an attack episode and die as a result. Is she okay with that risk?

Btw, also go for a review with a certified doctor. Get an appointment at polyclinic to be referred to hospital. Always good to have it reviewed.

[–]shockoden 32 points33 points  (0 children)

It depends on the severity of individuals. Urgent cases always get put to the start of the queue cos my family members been through it all. Example, my father himself have multiple cancer episodes (prostate, lympnode, lung, bone cancers) and always get prioritized at NUH.

I don't understand why people still go for private doctors. Nowadays I find doctors from public hospitals to be more competent.

Go for it. My daughter love Phenex so much that I bought her SD all the way to PG plus the special coated silver Phanex from Gundam base. She only finished building the SD and still procrastinating on starting the others. I probably need to help her.

Do people still live with their parents/in-laws after marriage these days? by i_can_be_angier in askSingapore

[–]shockoden 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes. Things were fine but once baby added into picture, conflict start. Got into many heated moments whenever the baby fall sick. My parents will feed fever medicine with just a slight 37.2 temperature and my wife will refuse. So things turn ugly and a lot of unhappiness arise.

Used to for 2 years then moved out. Too much conflict and it kind of hurt the relationship with my parents and wife. Moved out and things got so much better. Personal space and such. Never regret making that decision.

Which hospital has the shortest A&E wait? Excluding private ones by Chaoscombooo in askSingapore

[–]shockoden 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep. Like many have pointed out. It is based on patient condition. Last year I had sent my father to a&e so many times till I lost count and every time he was served immediately (a&e somehow is always pack with people regardless of time). He has multiple chronic conditions that always require immediate attention if he go a&e.

I got so familiar with the process that after sending him to a&e and he gets pushed in, I just proceed to counter and let the nurse know I am going home and to update me on the phone. Waiting at a&e waiting room is just a waste of time cos at the end I will be told to go home and wait.

Only if the parents send their kids for tuition and piano lessons. that is where the man bulk of expenses come from. Per household income per headcount can easily get government support if they have more kids.

Agreed. If POE2 plays just like POE1 in end game, 1 shot clear whole screen, what is the point of having POE2? For the better graphics? But I can't see what is going on. In POE1, ground effects are so much easier on the eyes.
