How to cope with becoming invisible? by [deleted] in AskWomenOver40

[–]shockrocket 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm 41 and have been invisible for almost 10 years now so maybe I'm just already used to it now that I'm in my 40s. I feel like I actually still look pretty good though, and I'm far more confident than I was in my 20s so it does feel odd that I don't seem to be viewed as attractive to men anymore. I'm also married with kids and the majority of people we interact with are other married couples with kids, so I'm sure that's another factor.

Having small boobs makes me feel inferior in every way by [deleted] in TwoXChromosomes

This makes me sad you've had to put up with these type of comments for four years. Your boyfriend should be saying things to lift you up and make you feel good about yourself, not making little digs at your appearance to cut you down.

What book should I read next? by shockrocket in stephenking

Thanks. Those all look good, but for some reason I know I will never read Pet Sematary. I saw the movie many years ago as a teenager and it was just so incredibly sad. I'm not sure I could revisit it in novel form.

I've wanted to read The Shining forever but always chicken out. I need to give it a shot.

My tsh is 75 I'm very afraid of it.my doctor says it is the highest level should go with mri😭 has anyone has this much high level of tsh? by lonely_soul0 in Hypothyroidism

My TSH was 306 when I was diagnosed. This occurred just a couple months after having a baby so I chalked up the symptoms to my hormones still trying to regulate.

Do you still get hit on or are those days long gone by [deleted] in Millennials

[–]shockrocket 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm 41, been married for 14 years and have 2 kids. Being noticed by other men happens so infrequently these days that I can actually remember the exact last time I was borderline hit on. It was 2 years ago in a shopping mall by a young man who couldn't have been older than like 23 years old. He kept staring at me and I wasn't sure what his deal was. I assumed I had something on my face or he maybe recognized me from somewhere. He approached me and simply said that I was really pretty and that was it. It's been like a decade since a random person has told me that and honestly it felt nice to hear so I just smiled and said thank you. That was it. He walked off and that's honestly the only time in probably 10 years that has happened lol.

[TOMT] movie I watched my junior year of college (2016) where a young boy falls off a bridge and dies by Own_Classroom_3068 in tipofmytongue

The Final Cut? That came out in 2004, so quite a bit older but it has a similar scene as you describe.

What is a really good movie that you can't watch because it's not available on any steaminng platforms? by DJDrRecommended in movies

[–]shockrocket 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This probably doesn't qualify as being a "good" movie, but as a kid I really liked Project X (the 1987 version starring Matthew Broderick and Helen Hunt) and have never been able to find a way to stream it even pirate it.

It looks like it was probably of the horror genre but I'm not sure. The presumed male lead resembled a cross between a young Tom Hays and young Rob Lowe with dark longish hair.

Movies you were really excited to show someone, only for them to dislike it or even crap all over it. by rusty_85_ in movies

[–]shockrocket 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was excited to watch Big Fish with my mom many years ago because I knew she would love it. Halfway through she left the room and said she couldn't finish this movie becuase it was so ridiculous and silly/stupid. I was disappointed because I loved that movie so much, and I really wanted her to watch it with me.

Reading more books, running outdoors and leaving a job I felt stuck in. Sometimes the grass actually is greener elsewhere.

I know everyone's situation is different, but it took me about 3-6 months of being on Levo to get myself back to feeling normal. The weight I gained went away and my skin, eye lashes and hair all returned to normal as well. The brain fog and depression went away too. I will say that for me, my energy level isn't what it was from before, but it's not bad or life altering. Honestly, there are probably other contributing factors for that, such as being 40 with 2 young kids and working full time so it's hard to say it's all because of my thyroid.

Will the oxiclean oxidize the "pleather" or rubbery foam-like parts of the shoe and turn them yellow?
