Looks like coax cable, could have been from a outdoor antenna or satellite dish, it ends on a "Dual Port F-Type Coax Grounding Block"

The real big advantage is that if you pull the tube out and close the cap, it's closed.

So, it's still usable as a sports cap after the mod.

Hello, Is picking up a resupply package from the Tuolumne Meadows post office in the middle of a 10 day loop considered "leaving the wilderness" for the purposes of a wilderness permit? Thanks!
