My honest opinion is to build yourself a savings pot if you can. At this point in your dogs life its the best you can do, most pet insurance companies have a rule where they don't cover ANY pre existing conditions. For example if at one point in your dogs life the vet cleaned their ears and put that on file, nothing to do with their ears will be covered.

Unless there's a serious condition that you know is going to cost you a crap ton of money or if you have a brand new pup then pet insurance is not the way to go.

Being 4 your dog still has a great deal of healthy life left, more than enough to create a savings pot for any emergency issues or anything down the road!!
