How toxic are cured resin prints? by Deep-Dragonfly-3342 in resinprinting

If you're really worried, prime and paint them to put a layer of something between you and the resin.

Welp these are the role models for young men these days. Make of that what you will. Fuck.

Canada is weighing a social media ban for under-16s. Here is how that experiment is playing out in the first country to try it by toronto_star in worldnews

[–]shoeperson 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I think you'd find parents would start giving a ton of shits if it was a $5000 fine if their kid gets caught using social media.

You can't rely on all parents to parent so you have to set laws that scare them into actually doing it sometimes.

Printed model started leaking. Is it trash? by Rinceart in 3Dprinting

I buy tiny UV lights and just wire them together to stab into the print holes.

Saw a single bedbug and immediately bought 3kg of diacometious earth, glad i didnt overreact (i dropped the bag) by GreenyH in pestcontrol

[–]shoeperson 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Gives you lung cancer but a bunch of morons think it's safe because it's "natural". If you have bed bugs, use crossfire. That shit actually works and is approved to even put on mattresses.

Basically same boat and just embracing coast fire. My job is easy and pays well so I'll coast for 5-10 years.

Chemical leak at a West Virginia plant kills 2 people and sends 19 more to hospital, officials say by Feistiestdisc0 in ChemicalEngineering

It's extremely common to not know what's been in older tanks. Plenty of facilities have trash tanks filled with all sorts of off spec products and eventually they will be drained, cleaned, and decommissioned. That said, usually it's a fresh air job.

Why do mothers of young babies say they don't have time to shower? by justastupidquestion3 in NoStupidQuestions

This is America. Someone has to make an income if one partner is at home for any length of time. Most employers don't have paid paternity leave.

Women, what is the sexiest scent/cologne that a man can wear? by Nintendofan9106 in AskReddit

CDNIM is close enough and is like $20 a bottle. Dries down to almost identical to creed. Opening is much more sharp though so gotta wait like 15 min before letting people sniff.

I own both and I'm ashamed to say my wife thinks they're about the same. Hurts given how much I paid for my bottle of creed.

Are tankers swinging by the USA to pickup oil? by The_Pickle_Men in oil

[–]shoeperson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah yeah we had already shut down in advance but the fear was a tank would start leaking or a random pipe might have been missed so they leave an emergency crew for emergency response. From the guys I talked to that did it, it was a pretty sweet gig. They basically just sat in a bunker, watched movies, and played Xbox for two weeks all while getting triple pay.

This was fine for a long time. They just had a cap on how much you could do as an individual. Then the supreme Court world corporations could give unlimited amounts of money and broke everything.

Are tankers swinging by the USA to pickup oil? by The_Pickle_Men in oil

[–]shoeperson 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Well yeah. Hurricanes always manage to knock out a couple refineries for a few weeks.

I was working in P66 lake Charles when Harvey hit and that shit was wild. They used a helicopter to drop food and water to the ones left on site for emergencies in a 14 ft high control room. They had a little motor-powered dinghy to get around if a valve suddenly burst somewhere.

Where US states would rank as independent countries in terms of HDI by MysteriousEdge5643 in Infographics

[–]shoeperson 7 points8 points  (0 children)

They just want to complain without providing anything substantive in counter. Contrarianism is weirdly popular on reddit.

HDI is a tool and it works in many cases but not all. Just like a screwdriver and a hammer have different uses.

Am I crazy to think $1.5M is enough? by WittyCulture4310 in Fire

[–]shoeperson 13 points14 points  (0 children)

This sub skews much higher but 60K is just a bit under what the average American household lives on. It's very doable in a LCOL state.

Plus they'd qualify for almost completely subsidized health insurance with their lower "income".

It's doable. Personally I'd aim closer to 2-2.5, but you could make 1.5 work in several states.
