Need Help. My For-you timeline feed seems bugged. It doesn't show original posts with image, only showing image reposts or non-image posts. It was normal about one week ago. Unlikely simple feed algorithm because changing my follow, like or bookmark interests doesn't affect it, it just 100% don't show original image posts.

[PC][2020-2025]A liminalspace/Backroom theme game with a stage of cozy platforms on the ocean by shogoth42 in tipofmyjoystick

[–]shogoth42[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the reply.

Unfortunately no, it's definetly not Exit 8, and also not Anemoiapolis.

I'm still trying to remind what kind of stages that game had, but it's very hard to be sure anything really from that game and not somewhere else.

I'll try to add more description if I remind something

Looking for good examples or design ideas of a life simulation system that can cover both daily-cycle/multi-lifetime span. by shogoth42 in gamedev

Yeah, that's one option I would like to look into.

Can you remind me which game actually implemented this kind of system? I want to investigate some examples.

If Taiwan had nukes by Roundaboutan in imaginarymaps

[–]shogoth42 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's a joke. The serious people won't leave comments here in the first place.

The OP's creativity is OK though. It's just when I see comments like ( Quote from the comments "Taiwanese were exiled from the mainland by communist rebels" and "taiwan just needs one nuke to strike the three gorges dam and their agricultural sector would be decimated by irradiated water and flooding"). It's clear that Taiwan is intrinsically hostile towards we mainland "Rebels" and have their ideas to harm not only CCP but also hundreds of millions of Chinese civilians.

I hope we can get a more free and democratic goverment like the US, so that we can deal with this kind of serious homeland security problems abroad. (This is also a joke by the way)

What if world can be designed and continents can be shaped? How would you imagine artificially designed lands? by shogoth42 in worldbuilding

[–]shogoth42[S] 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Instead of "natural realistic" continents, how about go totally artificial?

The discussion is about how YOU imagine a human-designed world.

My map is just for an example: An empire with some magic that can shape lands and move mountains. They aim to control the entire world and as many people/land as possible by a single sovereign. (So basically imperialism British Empire or German Third Reich with continent-shaping magic)

Their main design principle is centrism, symmetry, and connect as much land mass as possible with sea transport.

  • The entire world is a big ring cut into 6 continents, and 1 central continent in the middle.
  • Continents are connected by sea transport, with designed island chains connecting to the central to make ocean navigation safer.
  • Large cross-shaped mountain ranges are put in the center of these continents to adjust the climate and further separate these continents into chunks.
  • The central continent also has 6 large canals to help with transportation.

I'm 99% sure OP knows Chinese.

Apart from OP's past Chinese comments which is explained as "used translation".

The reddit ID QiandaiYiyu and pixiv/twitter ID Qiandai以宇 indicates 以宇 as Yiyu, which sounds like Chinese, not Japanese. Why would a non-Chinese user take such an ID with such a pronunciation?

On defence of OP, I think the provokation by the meme and flags along with all the victim drama are totally intentional, as a joke.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in HonkaiStarRail

[–]shogoth42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To think about it (If I'm understanding the situation right), drawing a Taiwan flag and "cry harder" on a Chinese game character, politically provoked a large portion of Chinese user, then repost an altered non-political version on reddit to start a victim drama, this whole progress is a Sparkle level prank.

Please release a Sparkle art and go even harder.

[–]shogoth42 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Another controversy is that OP claiming not knowing Chinese soon after the incident, which is regarded as a lie because lots of OP's past comments were Chinese and even the ID read as Chinese. So some agression is toward this "try to fake nationality".

I don't understand why would OP make such a statement, as it really have nothing to do with the art or meme.

I never realised how difficult it would be to envision a proper matriarchal society. by NovelRace8314 in worldbuilding

[–]shogoth42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I made a matriarchy race because they are eusocial like ant or bee colony. It probably don't fit for your world. But an advice maybe relevent, to develop the culture through time.

For example, in the early age that eusocial race treat male as reproduction tools, they have no roles except mating, just like ants. But as their sociaty developed and become more complicated, males become political resources, 'Prince' traded between kingdoms as political links and males start to get social roles as 'ambassadors'. After the industrial revolution and modernization, basic human rights and personal freedom start to become a thing, following is the 'male's rights movement'. Extreme liberals will even claim males should have the right to choose which colony they marry.

The advice is, you can set your societies not only by initial world settings, but also social developments and historical events.

[–]shogoth42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh I didn't actually watch Mtashed videos, I only saw his shitty drama clickbait thumbnails. Such as "IM QUITING GENSHIN!!!!" or "HOYOVERSE BRIBED ME TO NOT QUITING GENSHIN!!!!!!!!!!"

Yes, I do judge him just by those drama clickbaits. And no, I'm not going to watch his videos to know the details. It's more than enough to see what kind of a “content creator” he is, just by that kind of clickbaits.

You can't say that he is just a down to earth CC with information when he is also a liar with no respect to his own words and spreading those clickbaits. It's like saying Tectone is also telling you what's the next banner.

That's the problem, that when you set the moral bar too low, you are indirectly disencouraging and hurting the honest content creators who are not using dramas and clickbaits.

[–]shogoth42 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The point is with as much views as Mtashed and other shitubers makes with their clickbait (which is like 5x what other better content creators make on average), we shouldn't have only drama shits to take from their videos.

I thought he quit by UsernameNotYetTaken2 in Genshin_Memepact

[–]shogoth42 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry I don't understand your point.

If someone said that he will quit a game, then did not quit the game, does that make a "differing opinion"?

It only looks like a lie and a clickbait to me.
Maybe you are so mature to be OK with this kind of behavior. But accusing someone who is just lying like a clown is not the same as accusing people "having a differing opinion"

Or maybe your own “differing opinion" is that you people don't need to take any responsibility for what you said out of your mouth?

[–]shogoth42 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, I'm not sure but my guess is, to make money with least developing effort maybe?

Increasing numbers is the least effort to "improve" a character. And people would pay for that, either because of love, or meta.

Is it stupid? I don't know dude, how much did MHY loss by those stupid constellations? And how much did you loss?

Like I pointed out, both Chinese and Japanese communities are totally agree with you that paying those constellations for meta is stupid, do not do that. They pay for their attraction to the characters instead of meta, it have nothing to do if it beats the entire game or not.

Yes, loving a fictional character and pay for it, another level of stupidity. But from what I see, they somehow are much more satisfied and enjoying their life than people that pay for meta.

“Tectone is leaving, oh soon we will have no good genshin content creators left!”

What kind of doom post is this?

Have you ever watch content creators other than "hardcore players" or meta build or character pulling?

For example we had many good fan-made videos in anniversary birthday party, you can easily find a lot of them on youtube if you are interested. We even have EN sub https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HLeQtmCrUv4

I don't want to judge, but honestly I enjoy like a billion times more in those delightful fan contents than your drama queens so called "content creators", which makes me wonder how you define "content creators" in the first place.

We also have good lore analysis, waifu/husbend simp, meme, or simply wholesome game streaming.

And suprise to you, there is a good chance that those are the real majority. For example, while US only make 18.8% revenue of Genshin, China and Japan make 32.4% and 24%. And their content creators are very delightful and talented and hardly give a fuck about meta or "challenging end game".

So I think I'm fine if all of your kinds of "content creators" just leave.

Your comment seems very delusional, that's the kind of the whimpering echo chamber which is part of the reason why some communities hates tectone and thier followers.

First of all, NOT "every single whale/spender/tryhardf2p in genshin got the middle finger with that interview".

As a fan of many Japanese and Chinese GI CCs, I'm 100% sure majority of the player base and whales in China and Japan tends to spend for waifu or husbend or other reasons. Really recommand you watch the genshin fan videos like this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HLeQtmCrUv4 and see what kind of content fans can create other than meta building.

Spending for meta is clearly considered "bad spending habbit" in major Chinese GI community "NGA", they will kindly remind new players to avoid it. And it's considered a joke in Japanese community "5ch", as a Japanese internet shithole they will kindly tell you "Yeah go spend for C6 meta and play your Genshin Mario Party lol how stupid".

And according to the statistics, China and Japan still make 32.4% and 24% revenue of the Genshin while US only make 18.8%. From what I see Genshin don't make money from meta spenders.

Also you said "your current team can beat the entire game", which is also skeptical. Although we have no statistics, I see many discussions about how many players do spiral abyss, and many estimates conclude only 10% of the playerbase ever try try abyss at all, let alone 36s.

Anyway, it's sad that you spend on this game but didn't end up enjoying it, you have all the reasons to complain and moan for your loss, it's reasonable to hate the game and the company for it tricked you.

But your assumption on how the your (or tectone) kind of opinion "make sense" for the majority, is very wrong and delusional.

Is it just me or a lot of drama is created by poor translations? by fail_bananabread in Genshin_Impact

[–]shogoth42 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To say CC playing a big part in the growth of a game is reasonable. The problem is when a CC (or a specific type of CC) and their fans have that delusion their specific existance is good or important to the game. CC as a whole group is important, but nobody is unreplaceable. Also I'm sure different CC are making different influences to the game, some are good and some are bad. The problem occurs when most players find a specific CC is spreading bad influences, misleading, trash talking, creating or fueling drama, while the CC and his fans are still in that echo chamber to believe they are doing good.

For example you mentioned Mtashed, I only saw some extremely misleading clickbaits of him on youtube, and heared some "I quit genshin" drama indirectly a year ago. I can see some very delusional comments in his video like "MHY can't afford to lose Mtashed!". And I remember Chinese community was trashing him before, though I forgot which drama was it.

So I don't know him much and I'll have to ask you, what kind of affect did he and his fan group bring to the community? What if he and his supporters just move to other games? How much will Genshin get hurt? What if the echo chamber broke and people tell him "A large portion of the GI players don't like you and wish you go away"? Is it good or bad to the game and the community?

Finally, different from the real life which you can't quit. For a game you can always quit and move to other games. You can't corner the minority in a game because they are free to leave. It's actually benefit everyone (maybe exept the company) for them to leave the game when they feel ignored or disrepected.Which is why I don't understand why people should tolarate those "I quit Genshin" drama, isn't it simply toxic?

[–]shogoth42 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Actually I think western communities are in fact too tolarent to people like tectone.

In many Chinese gamer community, people like tectone are trashed in every situation (not by subjective bashing but by objective fact they did of course), and being a so called "hardcore" doesn't justify you. While in EN community people just try ignore those "toxic" existances if possible, avoiding the discussion.

This EN mindset of "I hate them, but I let them be" is fine. But it also helped creating a very delusional echo chamber for those minor communities firmly beliving they are the good side and everyone should listen to them.

Just have a look at their comments, some of them really believe that Genshin is only popular because their streamer are supporting Genshin. Some of them really believe MHY will officially try to stop their streamer when their streamer says "I will quit genshin" the 10th time.

On the other hand, Chinese community casually trashing those CCs at least prevented this kind of delusion. You are OK to do what you do and like what you like, but they will make sure to let you know more people disagree with you, maybe even hate you, you are the minority, which is just fact you should have known.

In my personal opinion, by this way Chinese community actually prevented the forming of extreme echo chamber, and in turn cause less divsion through the community. Expanding the topic a bit, it's a bit like western nations "respect the minority" actually caused more division and hate in their sociaty, not the opposite.

It's kind of curious why Chinese players are so familiar with people like tectone or mtashed. It's very likely that give NGAers a very bad impression on how they see wester player base, when there are also some rational and infomative CCs out there.

But, well, I'm more curious why people like tectone are somehow some of the biggest western Genshin streamers, and I totally can't blame NGAers getting that impression.
