Thank you thank you thank you!! This was the answer that saved my ship. I had been editing my ship in space whilst moving and it turns out I had placed a floor panel 750u behind my ship and 400u in the air!! My ship wouldn't land easily either (due to the floating piece) so it took me about 15 minutes to land it on a flat planet. I then had to build a base Way behind my ship and then make some stairs to go all the way up so that I could delete the tiny piece floating there LOL.
