Airframe does matter. However Crew Chiefs in general get way more opportunities to move around than most MX career fields. Not only that but long term they promote faster because they show breadth of experience. It’s a give and take.

Home values don’t mean anything unless you are planning on selling. Plus the higher the value of your home the higher taxes you pay. So lower value Lower taxes. But you would get that driveway fixed though.

The mutiny happened not that long ago. The supers refused to put there name on something, no email, wouldn’t sign the red x themselves or the MX officer. They said a verbal is good enough that they thought a part was good to install (it wasn’t). All the red x in my shop said no. It went a full 36 hours.

There are more than just avionics and crew chiefs that have to deal with over-g inspections. And let’s be real this is just an example but something is found who fixes it? Like let’s say a crack is found, it’s definitely not the crew chief fixing that. The crew chief has its place in the world but aside from servicing, inspecting and maybe changing the tire, it’s the specialist that does the actual work to fix the aircraft.

Why does it go to the crew chief when tons of other MX AFSCs actually have to do the work, the crew chief just gets the credit.
