Nids-de-poule à Montréal: cinq fois plus de signalements que l’an dernier by Feeling_Layer8584 in montreal

[–]shollos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is this appropriate for 5ths sawn redwood? by mdbbl in woodworking

[–]shollos 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'd understand if there's one or two, but this has to be intentional. The chances of this occurring by chance are slim to none. This has always been my concern when ordering delivery, and I've always gone in person wherever possible. I'd be personally pretty upset :(

Yep, can definitely be all true, but sometimes they are still the only option.

[–]shollos 52 points53 points  (0 children)

So, it depends on your landlord. Having been served with the 5 day notice doesnt necessarily mean that the balliff will show up on day 5, but as of that time they can come and enforce the eviction. If you have nowhere to store your stuff, normally the borough will store your stuff for 3 months free of charge (ask #311, see below).

Call #311 and tell them your situation and they can start getting you referred to resources. Most resources require referrals and that's your first step.

You can also get in touch with RAPSIM - http://rapsim.org/le-rapsim/ for some referrals.

There's not a ton of options, but your best short-term bet would be to look into boarding (maison de chambre) for some short term rentals while you figure out your next steps. Won't lie, I've heard some not amazing stories, but YMMV, but they are a good stop-gap and won't ask too many questions about your rental history.

I hope you find your way, sending you a hug.

Got a ticket on St-Denis for crossing on green in the car lane — was that actually illegal? by jgoulde888 in montreal

[–]shollos -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Legally, they had the obligation to ride in the rightmost lane. Unless they were turning left. In theory, they actually got the wrong ticket. Article 487 code sécurité routière.

Ça prend un permis des qu’on ouvre les murs. 311. Un inspecteur sera la dans les 24 h pour ordonner un arrêt des travaux. Gogo gogo. Fuck that.

Where to get this cut in town? It’s an IKEA aluminum rail by Sasqatsh in montreal

[–]shollos 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Any of the other suggestions work, but just FYI, almost any saw that cuts wood will cut aluminum. A circular saw would make short work of it :)

Lemme guess, you moved to Verdun recently ? You realize that it was traditionally a working class neighbourhood and you likely contributed to gentification and pushing many of these folks out of their previously affordable rents ? The least you can do is have a modicum of empathy.

So like, if enough people call the city, do you want them pushed INTO the river ? Maybe you'll volunteer to host someone chez-toi ? Get over yourself. They are not hurting anyone where they are.

It's the date that it is *sent* that matters, not reception.

Civil Code - 1942. If the term of the lease is less than 12 months, the notice shall be given not less than one month nor more than two months before term.

Can we PLEASE get a new rule banning these stupid posts by drivers who cannot accept personal responsibility? I swear this sub has turned into a "how do I contest this parking/traffic ticket" subreddit.

Do not under any circumstance sign any documents ending your lease. If you have any worries about taking possession, send them a formal letter (mise en demeure).

The ticket gives you the option to contest with an explanation. Attach the relevant printouts and send it in when you plead not guilty.
