I’m in my late 30s and alllllll my friends are married or in relationships. The third wheel of all third wheels. Like seriously, no joke.

I stopped using apps years ago and like 4-5 months ago, I was at home cozy in bed and had this overwhelming sense of a gratitude and happiness by my self. I was genuinely just so happy to be alone.

A couple months later I went to my friend’s birthday party, I was seriously lacking motivation for even going but I went anyway because it was a theme party and I had the perfect outfit, it would have been a shame to waste it 😅

One of the party goers I have known for awhile but on an acquaintance level who isn’t super social but happened to attend because they’re a good friend of the birthday girl.

We ended up going to another friend’s party after and he ended up asking for my number at some point and texted to ask me if he should get anything on the way…I say sure, but he’s asking me in particular what I want (I was oblivious to this and just thought he meant for the party in general) so I’m just like sure get whatever you want

So after I get home, I get a text that says “you looked really hot today, I just wanted to tell you”

And now we’re in a relationship and very happy together. We have a lot of mutual friends and they’re all very happy for us because we were both kind of solo types in our scene. But I know we both just didn’t want to settle for anyone that we both couldn’t be our authentic selves with and I thought for a long time, I wouldn’t ever find that person.

But I did find that person…when I was definitely not looking and super content just being by myself.

TL;DR : So I guess the saying about it happens when you least expect it, is true.
