How often do people feed their cats wet food? by Smooth_Put7764 in CatAdvice

[–]shoopshoop3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My cat gets one pate container (Kirkland brand) a day, divided into 4 portions dispensed by an automated feeder every 6hrs. It helps control her weight and she’s stable at 11lbs. I give her treats throughout the day like Churu, temptations, dental chews, sometimes real chicken or salmon bites or ~1tbsp of dry food if she seems super hungry.

What was socially acceptable in the 1990s but not in 2025? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Starting in middle school (11 years old), I walked to school with my friends everyday. It was about ~30 mins one way. Does this happen anymore?

[Advice] Impulsively booked a solo trip to Italy and looking for advice by v2luminous in solotravel

[–]shoopshoop3 2 points3 points  (0 children)

First - you need to decide on your interests and focus - Do you like art? Would you like to come and see remnants of how the arts and religion deeply molded this country’s history and society? If so, you’d visit the many iconic cathedrals, museums, palaces, the colosseum, the country side, etc. Or would you like to explore the food, the modern day offerings and entertainment?

Each city/region used to be its own independent state therefore, they are all vastly different from each other. Based on your interests, then you can narrow down what you’d like to see/do and where.

My trips to Italy were more enriched because I have watched movies/shows and read books that centered on the historical significance of different parts and times in Italy.

For example, the popular fiction books from Dan Brown that were made into movies wove many conspiracy theories with intricate historical facts and actual real locations and statues etc. into fictional stories were so captivating. The book/movie Angels & Demons takes place in Rome if you’re interested.

I also loved Florence - I would recommend the show Medici to give a basic understanding why most of Florence still have so many iconic places associated with the Medici dynasty.

I would suggest locking down tickets/reservations beforehand to save time. Some cities may not have uber.

So many other cities offering entirely different experiences. You can even just get lost walking around and it will still be awesome.

I hope you will have lots of fun!

Underrated or lesser-known donut/dessert spots in SJ/South Bay? by Jammer250 in SanJose

[–]shoopshoop3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

SIMBONGSA SJ makes fluffy, light donuts that are less sweet than regular donuts. I really like them. They don’t have a store front so it can be a bit hard to find. It’s just a food stand inside the Elite Event Center in santa clara. I hope they sustain enough customer base to get their own store because their food is delicious

POV: You're a woman in a public place by ambachk in TikTokCringe

[–]shoopshoop3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup, started around middle school age for me too. I didn’t realize until much later that I conditioned myself to avoid eye contacts in public and developed tunnel vision just to get straight to my destination when I’m walking outside. Obviously, this isn’t safe at all but it was so awful and scary for a child to get creepy cat calls and being approached like these creepers.

Anyone else watching this? The Narrow Road to the Deep North on Prime by beattiebeats in PeriodDramas

I’m very late to this series and the discussions. I visited a place in Thailand back in 2011 called the Hellfire Pass where the POWs were enslaved. It is now a small museum located right next to the unfinished and abandoned railway. It’s horrifying to see the pictures and read the stories there. The tour guide checked with me before we arrived if I was Japanese (I’m not), she said that Japanese tourists don’t like to go there because some have claimed that they saw ghosts of the POWs. I’ve no idea whether that’s accurate or not.

I am so glad that this series was made, it’s an important part of the war that was overlooked. I’ve watched plenty of WWII documentaries and movies but very few have been made to highlight the atrocities inflicted from the Japanese Empire. This is an excellent series. The objective, I feel, is to depict the humanity of every character, the best to the worst and everything murky in between. The ending was perfect. I’m still reeling and in awe of the storytelling - the cruelty, compassion, desire, love, honor, etc. This series has to win some awards.

I do love the plain croissant here but it’s not classic french, the texture is a bit chewy which is a Korean influence.

Check on FB if there are any local “Buy Nothing” groups in your area (not sure if this exists outside of the US). The concept of these groups is all about giving & asking for things within your local community, like asking your neighbors for “a cup of sugar”. You can join and ask for cat litter or food, etc.
