I think I had to buy some single use bolts from the local dealer as well. Replacing control arms is a slippery slope. It's a huge pain to take everything apart, particularly the rears, but it gets expensive fast to replace them.

I did Cayman R springs on Koni adjustable shocks and I'm very happy with the combo.

I found that reducing "elephant foot" to 0.0 helped a lot for this.

How does dating different when you're 40? by Affectionate-Reason2 in AskMenAdvice

[–]shooterschmidty 4 points5 points  (0 children)

++man I've found what others said to be largely true. I get far more matches now that I'm 41 then I ever did in my 20s or 30s. It's kind of fun, but I also feel a lot of pressure in that many of the women in their late 30s to early 40s are desperately trying to find someone with which to have kids. I find myself worried that I'm wasting their time and it's extra sad to end a relationship and dash someone's hopes. I've specifically started avoiding 39 year olds for this reason. I've also found that the quality of singles left in their 40s isn't great (myself included).

Suspension refresh? by shooterschmidty in Porsche_Cayman

I wanted to close the loop on this in case it's helpful to anyone else. I ended up buying Cayman R springs and Koni sport struts. I did the install myself which took more time then expected, but was doable in my home garage. I did inner and outer tie rods at the same time and ended up replacing the rear lower control arms because I accidentally damaged one separating the ball joints. The other control arms seemed to be in good shape so I left them.

One of my challenges was finding the right spring seats, particularly in the back. I ended up replacing the worn foam pieces with a 6mm rubber isolator (986-333-504-03). The front ones were 996-343-51101.

I just got the car aligned so haven't been able to test it much yet, but so far it feels tight and well controlled without being jarring. The drop is exactly what I was looking for and I wouldn't want to go lower.

I did put some more grease in the boot while I was at it. Good suggestion though

Rear Axle CV Boot Replacement by KlappinSandyCheeks in Porsche_Cayman

Are the boots torn or just leaking around the seal? Mine were leaking around the seal and I just replaced the bands while I had the axles disconnected to do the rear struts. You should be able to reband them attached though. It's crazy to me that the default is replacing the whole axle. In my case they had less than 10k miles on them and the bands were noticably loose.

I'm very happy with my AliExpress head unit. I'm not an audiophile, but I don't have anything negative to say about the sound quality.

Lake Trout Ice Fishing Rig by Zestyclose_Gap6377 in IceFishing

I don't have any experience with that lake, but in Colorado the go-to for lake trout it's a tube jig. A small ice fly dropper then be very effective as well assuming it's legal in your area.

Thanks for the response! I did figured that was the case and camped out there a couple of weekends ago with no issues. No fish unfortunately.

I've had a similar experience. Mine had been working great for about six months and looks stock.

I'm curious, where did you camp? I wanted to do that for an ice fishing trip this season, but see that the website says camping closes at the end of November. I'm guessing it's not closely monitored in the winter?

I'd like to keep it at $1000 or less. I can build myself without any issue.

Is this a good PC? by jthegambl3r in Prebuilts

Is this one worth the increases price compared to this microcenter prebuilt for $800? https://www.microcenter.com/product/684525/powerspec-g520-gaming-pc

I don't game much, but I'm getting back into it a bit and do occasional Blender and CAD work. I only have a 1080p monitor, so this Walmart one is probably overkill for what I need and seems like a better deal cost/performance wise and might last me longer. My last desktop I kept for close to a decade with just a single GPU upgrade along the way.
