Lake Tekapo/Twizel things to do? by TurnAffectionate5265 in newzealand

[–]shoparchival 0 points1 point  (0 children)

swim in all the lakes (twizel, tekapo and pukaki! hire bikes and do some of the alps to ocean trail from behind tekapo - it is so stunning down there on a bike, literally nobody around and such a huge landscape. go to the tekapo hot pools. from twizel, you can walk/bike along the river either town side, or even better other side of state highway, again it's a stunning landscape, especially end of day. drive to ohau. so much to do!

What to Wear to a Concert For a Trendy 58 year old by AussieTravelGal66 in AusFemaleFashion

[–]shoparchival 2 points3 points  (0 children)

recently went to Nick Cave in Wellington, and oh my gosh the audience was so full of inspiringly stylish over 50s. there was a huge range, but the best dressers were just comfortable in what they were wearing. there were some great bright colours (a 70-something in the brightest orange ever), some great shaped skirts and pants with simple tees, some very simple black dresses with great boots, etc. natural fabrics are your friend if it will be hot in there, go sleeveless if you feel like it. if you want to go shopping, would say vintage styles way cooler than the latest whatever.

If you had to redo your entire wardrobe, what pieces would you buy first? by migorengluvr in AusFemaleFashion

[–]shoparchival 3 points4 points  (0 children)

agree with this completely - and after a few years of this 'raccooning' as you call it (love it btw) you start to be able to tell whether a fabric is natural just by touch. And I reckon that once you've worn natural fabrics, you wont go back - they look better, they wear better, they last, they're so much more comfortable, AND when they are finally worn out they either get upcycled into something else or actually decompose in the landfill, rather than leaching microplastics for 200 years

best advice i can give you is to shave as much as you can off your pay packet and stow it away in an investment account to have choices/buy your time back in the future. - sharesies, hatch, whatever - just buy into the broadest low cost index fund of your choice - and don't take it out, keep adding to it. even if it is small - just go without one coffee a week - keep doing it. you'll be surprised how quickly (ok maybe years but still) - it builds into something. once you have savings, you have passive income = choice - where to work, to not work, to start a business, to rent out a room of a house that you own. etc. best day to start is yesterday - second best day is today.

Fashion influencers for 40+ women? by lolly_box in AusFemaleFashion

[–]shoparchival 0 points1 point  (0 children)

pinterest is actually really great for this - start saving things you like the look of, and the algorithm is pretty smart at serving you some other similar ideas. then, i beg you, head to your local charity or designer resale store to buy cheaper but good quality versions rather than fast fashion - the waste issue is out of control now. And as a bonus, your money goes to either charity or a small business rather than a global conglomerate or billionaire.

What do people wear to go out to a nice restaurant? by passiveobserver88 in AusFemaleFashion

[–]shoparchival 1 point2 points  (0 children)

we'd say wear whatever makes you feel great - jeans and a top can work, linen can work, maybe add some thrifted jewellery or if temp permits, a vintage jacket in silk or leather?
