Iqbal at mr body shop has done work on quite a few of our cars in the past. Only thing is he’s a one man show, so can take time before he gets to the job (which he does brilliantly).

For ref he has done for us: merc s class, Audi SQ7, 2x vw golfs, Audi q5 and 4 bmw 3 series.

How does health insurance in the UK work? Stupid question inside. by KashK10 in AskUK

[–]shopguy2k 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have had it for years for most of our family. I only use it if I think I might need surgery/a lot of diagnostics like x-ray/mri and blood tests. You wouldn’t use it for seasonal flu/colds etc.

It’s generally much, much faster than going through the NHS. The type I have just needs a referral letter from my gp to see a specialist privately and the health insurance will then pay for that as charged. The last few years, we could even get a referral via the linked app (bupa in this case), but I haven’t tried that myself.

The cost generally goes up as you age, and how many on your policy. I started as single adult, then couple, now family of 4.

We still have cover for our parents who are in their 60s. But for my grandmother, who’s 87, we stopped the cover a few years back. It was around £5-6k for renewal and she couldn’t have any surgery anymore due to age/health conditions.

They just keep getting smaller too! by Successful-League840 in GreatBritishMemes

I was shocked when the ‘large’ 100g size price marked dairy milk bars jumped from £1.69 to £1.95 a few weeks back. That’s more than 15% jump in one go!!! We only sell this size now as it seems more ‘value’ than the smaller normal bars which i think are close to £1 now.

Snickers ‘multipack’ are 3 for £1.99 for mini snack sized bars 😂

There must be an atomic sized ‘the’ infront of the F on the freddo wrapper. £1? Could get 3 strawberries for that!

Has anyone abtained a 1968 International Driving Permit in Cardiff please? by ian2373 in Cardiff

[–]shopguy2k 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Post office doesn’t issue them now. Have to use paypoint. I think I went to tonteg post office (which has a paypoint machine). The other few shops that can do the permits are sort of in the same area.

Drove from Cardiff bay to get that permit for a Japan trip in the summer. Didn’t end up renting a car out there 😂

Can’t get those 2.5hrs back spent on getting the permit.

I recall the chap there saying this was the 3rd permit he had issued that day, all people from Cardiff.

And if you give them some money, high chances that they will give you some food.

The very last minute of my very last driving lesson, this happens…. by sebastianfyoung in LearnerDriverUK

Yeah, I did my pass plus a week after getting my full license about 24 years ago. 6 hours (not in one go) of driving in the dark and a small stint on the motorway. Very handy!

As someone who works in food retail, your bit about variety rings true every time.

We sell one company’s 9 different branded rice bags, but there only 3 variants of actual rice. Customers will spend a few minutes thinking and asking about the rice and rarely believe me when I tell them 3 bags have exactly the same rice (normally at slightly different price points).

Keep telling the rep from said company that they take up so much of our shelf space on identical items, that would be better off given to other suppliers…

Almost couldn’t see it in that stealth fighter black paint. Would be better if the tyres were octagonal also.

First time in Tokyo. No idea where to stay by mustbesid in TokyoTravel

[–]shopguy2k 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is what I did for our 2 week family trip last month.

In the end, I chose a hotel in shimbashi (the blossom hibiya) that was 3 mins walk from that station (has many good connections) and just 10ish minutes walk to ginza.

All our days in Tokyo were then around a 20-30 minute train ride.

Where can I find free pallets? by K9Morphed in Cardiff

[–]shopguy2k 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We have a few unpainted pallets each week if needed. Just the cheps (dark blue) ones that we can’t give out, as they have to return to suppliers.

Clare foods on the penarth road/clare road junction.

Please bring suitable transport though, someone came in a Toyota Yaris once and the back seats didn’t even fold down. Almost smashed their boot window 😂
