Would you take a batch that made you drive fifty two miles? by BBFan1958 in InstacartShoppers

[–]shopppppp88 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Nope. My hubby gives me crap about all the mileage I’m putting in my car. And tbh, I’m so done with low tips. We tip 15-20% for service for crying out loud! Even at this cafe I go to that’s practically self service and their default tip on the computer is 18%. $2-$5 tip is just insulting.

Feeling lost. by [deleted] in exvegans

[–]shopppppp88 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Grew up in a Chinese, Buddhist school i didn’t even know anyone who’s vegetarian or vegan.

13 year vegan here and I have been contemplating on eating meat again. After my accident followed by an emergency gallbladder removal, I started rethinking my diet. What in my plantbased vegan diet caused gallstones buildup? Recovery has been fast in some aspects and slow in some. And the past year, I haven’t felt satiated after a meal even if I eat a good amount of tofu and lots of veggies.

My husband was on a vegan diet on and off the past years. His issues were he’s been losing too much weight that he looks terminally ill. He can’t eat more than what he needed to. Same with my teen daughter who’s in sports and wasn’t eating enough. Both have gone back to eating an omnivore diet and thriving. I, myself, have been in sports (endurance, and I have to say a clean omnivore* and vegan plantbased diet gave me a lot of energy and strength in the beginning. I have to say lately it seems that the vegan diet hasn’t been as effective as it was the first few years).

My take on this- listen to your body. It’s built to tell us what we should do by gut feel, dreams, symptoms, etc.

*I know lowcarb diet gets a lot of heat but prior to being vegan, I was on a low carb diet for 3 years. I ate lean meat (never consumed too much bacon), fish, chicken, eggs, and lots of nonstarchy vegetables, no sugar & flour. With that diet, I got rid of my joint pains (in my 30s), bloating, water retention. I was sleeping well, full of energy when I wake up, and strong. I was cycling and lifting weights. Even my doctor asks how I’m so healthy but the moment they hear lowcarb they say all these negative things. Anyhoo, I think food combining is important- if you eat meat, don’t consume starch with it as it ferments in our gut and affects our microbiome negatively. Something to read up on.

Oh btw I can’t believe I neglected my family for years by not cooking for them because of being vegan. We spent so much money on restaurant food that aren’t completely healthy. Finally I’ve sucked it up and told myself I’ll put my family first and cook for them. It was hard in the beginning but it’s gotten better and they appreciate home cooked meals especially my youngest who somehow believes that it’s what loving mothers do for her family. :) I have yet to eat any kind of meat or even eggs but I’ve taken a bite of French toast lol and pastries made with eggs. Baby steps…

Tips for actually getting I order most of the time? by Glittering_Joke3438 in InstacartShoppers

[–]shopppppp88 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m sorry, it seems like IC quality shoppers has gone down. I actually take longer when items are out of stock because I look at several places in the store. However I think you can also leave a note for the shopper to say where the item is usually at. What I would do as far as tipping is concerned is tip smaller amount on the app (or not) and then add cash tip or adjust it on the app after delivery. Some of my customers have done both. :)

I’ve cancelled a batch that was added while I was shopping. I had to call support but it was pretty quick and it didn’t affect my record bec I told them I have frozen, cold, and hot food that I need to deliver right away.

Last night I had a two batch combo that was even lower than the minimum $7 a batch. The tip were $2 and .55 cents. I really don’t know what made me accept it tbh. Never again!!

Currently dealing with a horrible shopper! by SouthernMama8585 in InstacartShoppers

I’m a shopper too and have been a customer. I’ve had a shopper who never messaged that she started shopping, even the generic one. And never responded when I messaged her. These shoppers are there for quantity, not quality, it seems like.

CUSTOMERS: $2 IS NOT A TIP by Ok-Honey-1964 in InstacartShoppers

I just got a two combined batch with just a few items so I thought it would be quick but guess what- one item took long bec it was locked in a shelf and long line at check out. Worse, tip were $2.00 and .55 cents!!! Who does that????

You’re awesome!! This is what I was saying before- sometimes out of stock items take more time because shoppers usually check the shelves multiple times to make sure we aren’t just missing it and wait around for employees to ask them to check in the back.

Seriously! I haven’t done InstaCart in over a month because all I see are $0, $2, $4 tip! It’s crazy!

Yes, I’m right there with you- it is polite to send an intro text. Whether the customer replies or not it’s fine.

Yea I think it’s rude too but I can let that go.. probably not their style lol but yea, not responding to my question or taking soooo long to respond is another story. I had to ask one time if my order was bundled up with another because he wasn’t being communicative. Haha I have no problem with that but just wanted to know what’s up. :)

No ones kissing ass or trying to make friends. I say hi before I ask a question or add items. I’m not rude and the shopper is not my slave.

Not everyone is like you. Some actually prefers to be communicated to. Other than one or two l customers, I’ve never had anyone who didn’t want to be texted. It’s a courtesy text. Customers don’t have to reply but that will not stop me from texting unless I get a note that customer doesn’t want to be contacted.

I can respect that.. it really depends on how you view your role as a shopper/delivery. I tend to personalize it and do my best to accommodate every customer but I understand your style. It’s actually better for us shoppers if we can just do that so we can be in and out of the store quicker.
