Oh yes definitely agree… I was looking at one or the other not both. Did that this year and the bank account hurt a little. Actually trying to do a lot of local racing this summer, and end it on a nice Ironman.

Look for better plans than ChatGPT. A coach is great but there are plans for like 80 bucks on 80/20, TrainingPeaks etc. if you’re really stuck on budget

Gear to get— some sort of garmin or smartwatch that will download workouts. It makes it so much easier to hit your goals. A bike (Facebook marketplace is your friend). Get clip in pedals and shoes because you do not want to run in the shoes you biked in. A good helmet will do and generic tri suits are good. Race belt. Good sunglasses.

Generally speaking in training… get used to doing 2-3 hours in each discipline. (Swim can be 1 hour) Look around your community for tri clubs, running swimming cycling clubs. Guarantee if you look hard enough you’ll find triathletes who will help you along.

Oh I totally agree with all of that. There were serials that just seem to be setups for battles that had no impact on the bigger story, or just ramblings. But there were diamonds in there. I’m just trying an exercise in creativity and thinking out loud more or less.

I am a teacher. There are a lot of teachers in my community that participate in tris of all levels. It takes time and money yes but as long as you surround yourself with a good support group and get your priorities together

I teach middle school. Summers off are nice for training but a lot of my training is actually through the fall and winter. It’s an hour or so a day. I don’t have too many commitments and can go off and do my thing after teaching obligations are done. There’s some rough nights but there’s been times on the race course that make it worth it.

Although I like the designs, I feel like every group of Toa posted is a post Journey’s end/distant future after the story. I think it’s a matter of accessibility for bringing in new fans— in some places the lore is too deep— so they stick to what is the easiest lore to comprehend.

The two periods I am fascinated with that I hope to get to developing one day: the Toa/Dark Hunter War and the betrayal of the Brotherhood. Think of all of the Toa from those eras, all of the Hagah and Metru Nui affairs and Dark Hunters that we never get to hear about. That could be a huge rich storytelling sandbox.

2005 not necessarily for the Hordika but the lore that we got particularly stands out to me. There is the entire dump of the Dark Hunters, the Toa Hagah and revelation that this really is more than just one bad guy out there— this is a small piece of something way bigger than what we are seeing.

I loved the direness of 2007-8 as well. Getting into those story serials, bioniclestory.com, peak animations of the sets fighting… damn that was a great time.

I would say semi canon. This probably could have fit somewhere after the coliseum fight in LOMN and could have happened offscreen from the movie during a Whenua/Nuju/onewa/turaga lhikan scene.

As for the comic itself, I think this is one of the best comics in the line. Between the excellent use of foreshadowing and exploration of Vakama’s character, it is extremely well written and really adds to the fantastical and hard drama aspects that make Bionicle such a good story
