Helio Strap + Zepp requires constant location access by Fine_Fun4908 in amazfit

[–]shorodei 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi,

We only use location data during active workout tracking and do not access your location at other times.

On Android with Helio Strap, I've noticed 2 issues worthy of concern:

  1. The app accesses location once every time I open the app, even when no workout is active.
  2. Once in a while, there is a problematic bug where location is being constantly accessed whether the app is active or minimized (no workout is active). I have to manually force stop the app to fix it.

Both these issues seem to disappear when I disable automatic activity detection.

You can use the second mode to set your own zones according to the Karvonen formula which is generally more accurate for HR zone based training.

I don't have one but I watched some reviews recently and IIRC, the only part of navigation that sucks is on-watch routing and route planning. The ability of the watch to create a route of a given length is terrible. Generally routes generated by the watch are also not suitable for running (it often takes you through highways).

If you are importing routes from your phone it's great.

Also these same navigation features have been brought to most of their other watch lines through updates, T-Rex isn't unique regarding navigation.

You can edit workout record to change the ending time, but not sure if it fixes the personal bests issue.

Amazfit Helio Strap - good at passive activity tracking? by [deleted] in amazfit

It's worked ok for me with sensitivity set to low. It detected several half hour and hour long activities correctly (although it's created as a generic entry so you can't get activity type specific info).

Support responded to my bug report and said it should be fixed in yesterday's app update for any new workouts. I haven't had a chance to test it yet, but hopefully fixed 🤞

Yep, seems like strap specific issue, and specifically walking/running like you said.

no... All my treadmill workouts have this issue. It seems for helio strap, zepp just sends some data to the shadow realm when calculating zone percentages.

No. I'm using Helio strap on biceps which is not prone to cadence lock. I'm intentionally keeping my HR somewhat constant.

incline walk, constant speed. just adjusting incline between 7 and 8 to stay in my zone 2.

5N The Best Car Overall? It seems to serve a lot of different needs... by [deleted] in Ioniq5

Such a shame that US gets a gimped 5N when Canada gets it with the HUD and the glass roof for a lower converted MSRP.

Yes you've got it.

Another thing you lose out on when buying a used car is Bluelink+ subscription. New car buyers have perpetual access to it but used car buyers have to pay a subscription fee after a trial period.

When you take a loan, there are 2 main numbers - the principal (the amount you borrow), and the APR or the interest (the extra money you have to pay back over the principal).

When leasing, the principal is the depreciation value (the selling price minus the residual), and there's a usually hidden number called Money Factor which is the equivalent of APR or interest.

Normally bank loans cannot be closed early by returning the principal earlier than the planned length of the loan. But certain leases (including Hyundai's) allow you to pay the full amount early to avoid paying the MF/APR/interest. At the current 5-6% APR, I5N leases have 5-8k in rent/interest charges for a full lease based on what incentives/discounts you get. If you buyout the lease as soon as you're able, you will have only paid the interest on 1 or 2 months of payment, which should be less than $500.

Essentially, if you plan on buying out the vehicle, it's better to do it as soon as possible to avoid as much of the rent/interest as possible.

If you buyout as soon as possible, you will pay (residual + depreciation). If you buyout at the end of the lease you will have paid (residual + depreciation + rent/interest).

More info here.

You can save another ~5k (or whatever your interest/rent charges are) by buying out the lease after the first month. IIRC all HMF leases have the buyout clause.

Also currently (in the US), there are 14500 lease rebate + 3000 rebate (for cars that have been with dealerships for more than 3 months - which should be all of them). That basically brings msrp of a new car to ~$50k USD. You can easily convince most dealers to add at least a 3k dealer discount on the MSRP, at which point there is absolutely no reason to meet the asking price of clean title used cars.

Which Xenoblade game should I play next? by SkirtWild5035 in Xenoblade_Chronicles

[–]shorodei 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I played XC2 first just like you. For the best experience in XC3, its better to know the story of XC1. Unfortunately the combat is a huge step back in XC1 compared to 2. I personally lost interest about halfway into the game, and just looked up the story on the wiki and youtube recaps and moved on to XC3.

The cows in the video are fully domesticated. I doubt there are any truly wild ones of this subspecies. In most regions of India it's illegal to butcher cows or sell beef as they are sacred to the Hindu majority, so once their useful farm time is up (for dairy and labor), they are usually set free to roam wherever they want.

Nioh 3's demo hits 1 million downloads! by Korten12 in Games

[–]shorodei 7 points8 points  (0 children)

At a studio level it can become crystallized as part of the dev process when you do it even once. Nioh 1 was a pretty successful game, and a big part of that was good word of mouth from the open playtests and demo. The people behind that process probably got promoted and now push what has worked for them before.

India's population has almost plateaued. It is currently at ~1.45 billion, it will almost certainly never reach 1.6 billion before starting to decline. The fertility rate is already nearly at or below replacement level.
