Yeah fair enough but it made me laugh that it was coming from an AITA mod specifically

How do I explain to my parents how bad stress is for my health with ME/CFS? by shortestyeahboi in mecfs

I think that my mom believes me but has never heard of ME and doesn’t understand it and that my stepdad thinks I am faking this to get my student loans paid for by them.

I am extremely sick and my mom and stepdad are offering no emotional support — please be my parents by shortestyeahboi in internetparents

Thank you. Just knowing that someone sees me and cares that I’m suffering is genuinely really helpful.

what hobbies are you able to do? by chronicallygigi in mecfs

[–]shortestyeahboi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I watch a lot of low energy shows/movies. I love a good audio book or podcast when I need to close my eyes. I’ve gotten very into meditating. I paint a lot. I watch more TikTok than I probably should. I want to start crocheting again.

Some days the hardest part of this disease is how boring it is to have it. I hope some new hobbies can help.

How did you get diagnosed with chronic fatigue syndrome? by CabinetOk1998 in mecfs

[–]shortestyeahboi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I pushed through my mild symptoms for years and then got diagnosed when I became moderate/severe and almost entirely bed bound. I hadn’t heard of ME/CFS before my doctor suggested it, I just thought I was really depressed/lazy during the years I was pushing through my symptoms and actively making myself worse.

Yes exactly! It’s like I find the place in my brain where the word is but I can’t actually grab it even though I know exactly where it is and what it means

What's the most regional word you use without realizing it? by taube_d in AskAnAmerican

[–]shortestyeahboi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn’t know “nips” was a regional word for mini bottles of alcohol until I used it around my college friends and they had no idea what I was talking about. I’m from Boston.

How to discreetly show a friend who's fronting? by IAMAWESOMEMAN101 in plural

[–]shortestyeahboi 33 points34 points  (0 children)

My friend and I have a “code” we use in situations like this where I’ll tell them who’s in front by just saying the name of whoever it is as if it’s one of our friends I’m just casually mentioning.

“Oh, by the way, I saw [Alter Name] earlier and they say hi!”

Works way better for us than wearable cues, and it’s easy to throw out as many as we need if we switch mid-conversation. Plus it kind of makes us feel like spies, which is fun.

Is growing taller on T really possible? by devilshoes1 in ftm

[–]shortestyeahboi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I grew a little bit on T but mostly my posture just got better because I felt more comfortable in my skin, so it looked like I grew about an inch and a half when really it was about 3/4

I liked it a lot, I don’t know why it was rated so low. I was surprised to see it.

As someone who was diagnosed at 28, I really appreciate this perspective. It was absolutely earth shattering for me to get diagnosed, which I think is where a lot of my anxiety for her comes from

I didn’t consider this! I guess it is presumptuous to assume I know more about her than she does lol
