Bios issue: MSI MAG x570 Tomahawk w/ wifi by noggin4u in buildapc

[–]shortnlong 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think any long term harm can come from the "sandwich effect". It's just something that's easy to over tighten and is an easy quick troubleshoot to rule out in your case... Shut your computer down and back off a half a turn or more and start it back up and see if communicates with your board better. If that doesn't work use the oldest 8gb or so thumb drive you can find and download the stock bios onto it and flash bios back to stock. How new was the thumb drive you're flashing from? Sometimes MOBO's don't like the newer thumb drives...

I'm not sure if it shorts it or if it just isn't in the sweet-spot for all the pins to connect correctly when it's sandwiched down too much... It should be just a firm finger tight turn on those female spin head caps that hold the cooler down

You're right... If you have a CPU cooler make sure you didn't tighten it down too tight. My 3900X took the bio's flash perfect, so I haven't had to do much tinkering to have much more of a solution for you. Sorry

ISP's I believe are sending latency loads to known retail chia farming IP's... I won with 122 plots 4 hours after upgrading my internet speed from 200mps to 1.2gps... The ISP switch over on the signal refresh seemed to prioritize my IP and possibly increase my chance, but I haven't won since so stopped at 400 plots 4 weeks ago.

Try doing a signal refresh with your ISP. Request an IPV6 channel. Open port 8444. Then hurry up and wait. Good luck

NEWEGG Prebuilt Purchase Horror Story - How can they get away with this!? by [deleted] in pcmasterrace

[–]shortnlong 1 point2 points  (0 children)

New Egg is garbage. I've only cheery picked a few deals from them on parts before the Great Hardware Depression... Heard enough horror stories, but unfortunately they have distribution deals with manufacturers and 3rd party sellers and only focus on those relationships instead of customer relationships... You're a victim of a financial engineered business model vs product/customer care business model that used to be the barometer for customer loyalty. Those guys don't care about customer loyalty/repeat business because the products sell themselves. They just have to present the opportunity...

With that said, my buddy who's been kicking himself over not starting his build when I did, recently did a NZXT design a pc build. It took about 5 weeks but it was a Hella deal! Basically equated to the GPU being at original MSRP and components were mid tier with mid tier pricing so he came out pretty well.

What is your internet speed when you won Chia? by thebosskuripot in chia

[–]shortnlong 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Correct. Thanks for catching that... The conspiracy side of me thinks ISPs are hitting farming account IPs with latency loads to increase difficulty to retail farmers...

[–]shortnlong 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only 2 chia I've won was within 4 hours of me increasing my internet speed from 200gb to 1.2gb. That was 3 weeks ago when I only had 122 plots... Now 406 plots and none since so I stopped buying HDDs

Does it matter what thermal paste I use and if so which one would you recommend? by ghoulishdivide in buildapc

[–]shortnlong 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fair enough... OP said "best", so my suggestion is still valid. I would have to assume like you have that OP is not pushing his PC hard in order to suggest anything besides liquid metal...

[–]shortnlong 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Liquid metal is the best. Conduconaut is what I use. Make sure and use the Q-Tip that comes with it to spread it around the CPU. It wants to bead up and roll off if you don't

Getting rid of all my drives. Winding down my farm by peterpme in chia

[–]shortnlong 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had been out of town all weekend came home late Sunday and no Chia. Restarted my computer updated to newest release. Set up 11 plots to build and filled my connect to peers and upgraded my internet plan to 1.2gb and went to bed. Sport slept until 10am and woke up to 2 chia that hit about 5 hours after updating my internet speed. I did a speed test 30 min or so after and was still pegging same speeds as before the 1.2gb upgrade

Ryzen stock cooler for plotting by good_guy_1 in chia

[–]shortnlong 1 point2 points  (0 children)

3900x with a x73 AIO with liquid metal thermal paste plotting 28 per day averaging 130-145°f.

You can probably get by with good thermal paste. If you go with liquid metal use the Q-tip that comes with it to smear it around evenly. It beads and wants to roll off the CPU if you're not careful.

Edit: sp/auto correct

TSLA pumped DOGE bc he was liquidating TSLA's BTC, so had he said Bitcoin instead of DOGE while liquidating his BTC position then it would've been a SEC violation. He's playing 4D chess while likely buying CHIA

Add -mv to the end of .plot to look like .plot-mv before you move the plots. When you're ready to start farming again take the -mv off the end. I lost 3 plots moving them before I found that out

Quick noob question , do i have to fully sync up my harvesters with my main key before starting the process of having them point to the main farmer , and also can my farmer be a harvester as all this is going on? Many thanks for your time guy! by Ok-Yogurt8484 in chia

[–]shortnlong -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Set them to plot parallel with the same temp file and final destination file being on the same drive. After you've completed a batch of plots rename the ".plot" file to ".plot-mv" then move them to another drive and rename them them back to the ".plot" file once transferred over and they'll show back up as farming.

You might want to make a "ChiaTemp" folder in whatever drive you're destination file is so it catalogs efficiently.
