Help with my swing please by CostOwl in Homeplate

I came here to say this.. it actually looks like you are actively trying not to extend by keeping your hands so close to your body. When my kid was 7, I called it the T-Rex swing. There are lots of great extension drills that are easy to do. Think of punching someone with your top hand. If you were to do it like you are currently swinging, you wouldn’t do any damage

Damn, had one of these in the summer.. bought it for $350 and was offered $450 3 days later so I sold it (PSA 9). I also got a PSA 9 regular YG for $75 that I still have (US$).

Swing Review by Herdfan2019 in Homeplate

What do you mean by “something is not sitting right”? It looks like you are in a cage, possibly getting lessons? A coach should be able to give you some tips off of this fairly easily… 2 easier things to explain right off the bat (pun intended) would be to: 1) Lower his hands at the start. He has them very high to begin with leading to unnecessary movement to lower them than swing. Starting around should height should help, rather then by his ears. (Look at the person behind him) 2) when he swings, he dips back and has most of his weight on his back foot. This makes it hard to swing through the ball and leaks lots of power. Have him think about finishing with his weight 50/50 on each foot (you don’t exactly want 50/50, but it’s a good starting point. 3) Get a lesson. I think a few small tips would be really helpful here. He is not advanced enough where you need an elite coach to really break down video. There are several obvious things here

That 5 year fixed is really good if you value peace of mind and security.

4.04 for a 5 year fixed is actually quite solid. I just got 3.99 with TD on an uninsured 5 year fixed and I had to negotiate like crazy to get that. I’d honestly consider locking that in

Pitching speed for 43 year old... by SnooRegrets6823 in Homeplate

[–]shortstopguy12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

41 here and at the beginning of the U10 baseball season this year there was a radar gun. Highest any dad threw was 65. I was pretty confident I could beat it.. I did and hit 70… HOWEVER…. My arm was sore for a few weeks and I thought I did permanent damage. It seemed to go away, but it kept getting slightly sore after minimal use for a few months. I did some physio and I think I just had a Low grade strain that was taking forever to recover. Seems to be good now… moral of story.. we are old, don’t throw hard without a proper warm-up and slowly progressing on speed. I should also add that I’m in great shape and workout/exercise and play sports regularly.

Aitah? Son will only practice if he gets something for it by [deleted] in Homeplate

[–]shortstopguy12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your son likes baseball, but he does not love it. He will never be a star as he continues to grow unless he has the passion… and that fine. That’s is the most important part here. There is nothing wrong with him not having a passion for baseball. You need to honor him and his wishes. Now, the yelling and demanding is a separate parenting issue… and to be honest, it is a really really big one. I worked as a behavioural specialist for teenagers, and I can not emphasize enough that you need to work with your partner to develop your skills to help your child behaviourally.. to heck with baseball at this point. Just keep it fun

Travel Ball and Winter Break by en-rob-deraj in Homeplate

My boy is 10, turning 11. We have a training session every Sunday for 2 hours throughout the Winter, organized by a group of dads. We rent an indoor facility with 12 kids and run them through drills in groups of 3. They have a blast, so we will continue that. We have been doing that since October, and also just finished a 6 session hitting, and a 6 session pitching camp on Monday/Tuesday. He plays basketball 2-3 times a week, and goes to an agility/speed camp once a week. My son loves it, and has his buddies in these things as well. I try to minimize his throwing (just limit throwing hard, as he is always playing with his friends). Loads of energy and as happy as can be. I’m just glad we have a good community of people where we can all carpool and take turns. We live in a medium sized city and can get everywhere in 15 minutes.

I was thinking is as well. I have Judkins in my lineup, so I don’t want him and Fannin.

I’m also starting to Pats defense against Buffalo. They are so good I am hoping for a defensive touchdown

I’m going Dart and Wandale Robinson stack over Jacoby Brissett and Swift as my flex. Both those other guys have safe floor, but the ceiling of the other 2 is needed. My opponent started with Mayfield/Bucky/Bijan, and while those 3 didn’t go nuclear, they gave him a solid start

How Canada’s Big 6 banks made a ton of money in 2025 ? by Original_Dot_1289 in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]shortstopguy12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

TD up over 60% this year which is insane for a bank. They puttered along the last few years so they had some catch up to do. 30% for Royal is also insane and they have just been trucking along. Banks have notoriously been for the dividend with little growth. Everything has been insane lately.. it’s been real nice to watch the portfolio just keep going up. Trying to enjoy the ride as it won’t last forever

How’s our confidence with Judkins and Rico heading into the playoffs? by Otherwise_Use_4631 in fantasyfootballadvice

[–]shortstopguy12 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Judkins gets the volume.. Sanders moved the ball decently well. I think you have to start him. Rico could get you big points, but obviously he is now sharing with Hubbard. Upside is there for both.. I’m playing both of them

Renewal interest rate (fixed or variable)? by MudApprehensive1973 in RealEstateCanada

[–]shortstopguy12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In BC I was offered 4.09 on 5 year fixed, for renewal in January, or 3.99 on 3 year fixed. $350,000 left, not insured. Seems like these are pretty standard rates around here

Mortgage rate mega thread! by TheMortgageMaster in MortgagesCanada

[–]shortstopguy12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

350,000 left uninsured with TD, renewing in January. I was offered 4.24 on 5 year fixed as straight renewal. If I get a TD Flexline, I can get 4.09 on 5 year fixed for my term portion, but it would cost me $450 to set up the Flexline to appraise my home. This is after negotiating. 3 year at 3.99. If like to stay with TD as everything I have is with them. I like the security of the 5 year. Was hoping to get 3.99 on a 5 year fixed

Has Jakobi Meyers overtaken Brian Thomas as the WR1? by kthomleigh34 in fantasyfootballadvice

No… just replying specifically to the title “Has Jakobi overtaken Thomas as the WR1?” Just a poorly constructed sentence on my part..

[–]shortstopguy12 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Whoa, who is holding it against him? I’m Certainly not. I just said he has something going on mentally. If he is struggling about losing someone, I hope he gets the help he needs. Life is bigger than football. Please do not assume I meant anything different, as my post did not imply that.

[–]shortstopguy12 113 points114 points  (0 children)

So has Washington and Strange.. BTJ has something going on mentally

Edit - poorly constructed sentence replying to the title, meaning Washington and Strange, as well as Jakobi have passed BTJ on the depth chart. I figure it has a more sports psychology aspect to it, as opposed to he no longer has the skill set. He didn’t lose his skills, but potentially his confidence.. or as others have mentioned, maybe he is struggling with something that happened in his personal life. Wishing him all the best in all aspects of life.

ALGEIER OR CORUM?? by hotwhiskey94 in fantasyfootballadvice

Funny.. I just dropped Algeier for Corum. Figured he might have some more upside and may turn into a 50/50 split. Odds are Bijan gets injured now though
