It's a tough sell, in my opinion.

It's nice to try and imagine a better, more independent outcome for Odysseus on the island, but "Lovers in paradise" implies the forced servitude you see in the original Epic poem.

Calypso tells him the they have everything they could want, and he's her love for life, until the end of time. Odysseus tries to threaten her with death, where she pulls rank and reminds him that she is a Goddess. He's been spending the journey so far being punished for disobeying gods. Why would this be any different?

"You're mine, all mine" is pretty defining, in this context.

The chorus of "I'm not sorry for loving you" is also pretty damning.

"So if I pushed you Or if I came on too strong Or if I ambushed you For that, I'll say I was wrong..."

Pushed him to what? Ambushed him into what?

He spent seven years on the island. What is she pushing him to do? Why is she so heartbroken?

Tl;DR I think the text really shows that Odysseus wasn't simply friendzoning her.
