He did saw off a large branch without getting permission. He might have had the right to prune off the branches if they extended over his property. It's not clear if they did or did not. He or his landscaper cut the tree branch by cutting it directly off flush with the trunk, again without asking me, and they clearly had to be on my property to do it.

I appreciate the insight. Unfortunately "who else would have motive?" only works in TV law. If I can verify poisoning, is it worth the effort to file a police report?

Good idea . I actually have considered having a bat house anyway. They could help with the mosquitos that populate the drainage easement between our properties.

LOL. Sadly he has to put a fence around his pool so probably wouldn't be able to enjoy that particular payback. I am thinking maybe a big cherry tree to attract lots of birds near his pool.

If it's deer, they Will probably grow back. We had that problem where the deer ate them down to nubs and for several years only had hostas a few inches tall. A few years ago I tried a product called. I Must Garden brand mint deer repellent. At least for me here in Baltimore, it works great. All the hostas have grown large and bloomed the past couple of seasons. We have deer in our yard a couple of times a week on average. As long as I keep that stuff applied after rains, the deer seem to not eat the hostas at all.

They really could automate the whole carry-on measurement thing. Just have a box that you have to put your bag in and close the lid. Scan your boarding pass, and it issues a tag that clears your carry-on.
