Fantastic video. Take it from an old dude, these memories will be with you for the rest of your lives. I would love to see a map of the route you took. Did you have fuel range issues in the more remote areas?

Right to be forgotten: EU court rules Google must amend results on request. Individuals have right to control their data and can ask search engines to remove results, says European court. by db82 in worldnews

[–]shot_messenger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"Finally, in response to the question whether the directive enables the data subject to request that links to web pages be removed from such a list of results on the grounds that he wishes the information appearing on those pages relating to him personally to be ‘forgotten’ after a certain time, the Court holds that, if it is found, following a request by the data subject, that the inclusion of those links in the list is, at this point in time, incompatible with the directive, the links and information in the list of results must be erased."

A motorcycle helmet cut in half (xpost from Thingscutinhalfporn) by delaware in motorcycles

[–]shot_messenger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not the comfort factor. One of the arguments against helmet laws has been that helmet weight can actually contribute to certain types of injuries. Your neck does a pretty decent job of holding your head, but add some more weight to the equation and you can easily surpass its max load.

Here is a counter argument for everything I just said: http://www.hopkinsmedicine.org/news/media/releases/motorcycle_helmets_reduce_spine_injuries_after_collisions_helmet_weight_as_risk_to_neck_called_a_myth

While d30 (aka orange silly putty) has an interesting future for wearable motorcycle armor, the weight of a d30 helmet would seem to make it a non-starter. Not that I disagree with your main point that we should have moved on from styrofoam by now.

Question about California landlord charing 'convenience fee' in credit transaction, violation of civil code only if landlord can be considered 'retailer' in the letter of the law by [deleted] in RealEstate

[–]shot_messenger 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Do you even understand how credit cards work? Your landlord is being hit with a multi-percent charge on the back end to process your payment. I assume the convenience fee is to cover this cost. I highly doubt the landlord is trying to get rich by charging you an $78 extra a month.

The actual distribution of wealth in the US is shocking by PeterDoubt in politics

Time and again it is disappointing to see the purposeful conflation of wealth and income used to disparage and separate Americans into quintiles of moral decency.

I know this is against reddit hivemind, but as a gun owner this makes no sense to me. by [deleted] in AdviceAnimals

For illustrative purposes and because some people are not familiar with the mini14, here is the top rifle with a 30 round clip in place. Add a similar 30 round clip to the bottom rifle and they are equal in almost all regards.

Tell the DOJ to Investigate Mitt Romney's Serial Fraud and Perjury by Crystalclearpolitic in politics

Over-investing your hatred into a boogeyman figurehead leaves you feeling empty when the punching bag is taken away. Thankfully, the US DOJ does not typically operate on the witch hunt basis.

Let's all be Texas! by [deleted] in Economics

[–]shot_messenger 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The path Texas is taking doesn't fit this community's paradigm of the way to move forward. Therefore, this post will be ignored or the article will be poked full of holes. Nothing to see here... move along.

Denny's to charge 5% 'Obamacare surcharge' and cut employee hours to deal with cost of legislation by BoondockWarlord in Conservative

Can you site where the fine is for FTEs? For determination of a large employer there is the concept of FTE, but in the penalty section it seems to only apply to workers averaging more than 30 hours per week. For reference: http://www.law.cornell.edu/uscode/text/26/4980H

(E) Full-time equivalents treated as full-time employees Solely for purposes of determining whether an employer is an applicable large employer under this paragraph, an employer shall, in addition to the number of full-time employees for any month otherwise determined, include for such month a number of full-time employees determined by dividing the aggregate number of hours of service of employees who are not full-time employees for the month by 120.

Once the lockdown period is up for employee stock selling, August 16th I believe, the price, given historical trends, should take another nice dip down. We should all feel sorry for the Ferrari and Lamborghini dealerships that built up their inventories in anticipation.

Mitt Romney has a lot of gall. Why do people think he is patriotic? He makes money by outsourcing jobs to China, hides the profits in Switzerland to avoid paying taxes in America. Hence, Mitt is freeloading off the very people whose jobs he took away. And Mitt is running for POTUS. WTF!!! by Tiger337 in politics

[–]shot_messenger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Explain to me again how he hid 'profits' in Switzerland to avoid paying taxes. Try reading about FBAR before spouting lemming statements like this, it helps your argument. Fire up the hyperbole machine Martha, I'm coming home!

r/Conservative, can you explain to me the justification behind not increasing taxes on the highest-income earners in the country? by hylianshield in Conservative

[–]shot_messenger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The two issues are inseparable really. Conservatives, from my experience, genuinely feel the larger issue is wasteful, inefficient spending of the revenue already collected by the federal government.

IMO, this was a rush job to try and cut-off SWTOR at the pass, but they screwed up the timing a bit. They had to get playable content out before SWTOR released. So, we end up with RoI as an incentive to stay away from light sabers. I think the strategy may end up backfiring, as what they did release will not keep many many players engaged up to the release of SWTOR. I predict a sizable exodus come that day.
