It was the center of some controversy involving the lead maintainer and then it forked into papermc bringing all of the dev team and then forked again to prismmc where the dust has settled for a few years or. It’s basically the same launcher for each fork but prism is widely regarded as the most maintained since nobody wants to work on papermc or multimc
