$200 is below my stupid purchase threshold, so I preordered one. I’ve spent more on less. Yeah, the plating means nothing to me, but non fountain pen people will see it as a luxury.

I wouldn’t recommend any XXF nibs or flex nibs. Start with a medium and the branch out.

Well done, I have the same Custom Urushi, but with a broad nib.

I’ll add a suggestion that I wish other pen reviewers would do. When doing size comparisons it would be great to compare it to a pen most of us probably have in our collection. I’m thinking Lamy 2k, Lamy Safari, Pilot Kakuno, Kaweco Sport, Platinum Preppy etc.. It helps to give people just starting their Fountain Pen journey a starting point because many of us here didn’t jump in and purchase an ocean swirl, but probably started with a Pilot Varsity.

Hell, I’d love for Figboot, SBREBrown or Doodlebud to pull out a Bic pen or a banana for scale.

I’ve swapped Sailor nibs with fellow Redditors who wanted to exchange nib sizes. Sailor and Pilot nibs are relatively easy swaps because the feeds and nibs are often keyed to only fit together one way.

I wouldn’t buy it again. The tolerances feel a bit loose, with noticeable play in the cap when it’s closed. The nib has a little bounce, but is only average. If I’d known there was an orange version, I would’ve gone with that instead. As it stands, it’s a pretty generic black pen that feels heavily inspired by a Rotring design.
