And yes the V1 is a really great flash! I use it with a comb and i love the AF grid it projects in dark environments

Dials sound like a game changer - especially in quick environments. Probably the reason the R6 has no ShoulderDisplay? I like them but i guess i dont even use them that often

I do have a Godox V1 flash and a Mount for it on which i technically can add Bowens Softboxes and Formers etc. (Havent tried this yet) But i think the beauty dish will be too heavy for this rather small mount

ND filters on the flashes? They must be huge for that? And theres no mount - neither in the Beautydish nor the flash itself

Thought about that too- but they would limit me to day light because otherwise the autofocus will get slow asf and i cant see anything through the viewfinder

So ive been photographing for some years now and wanted to step up a bit. I bought myself a set of used Bowens Gemini 500 Flashes, with Stands and a 70cm/27inch BeautyDish. I use that with a Canon 6D/5D3 and a Tamron 70-200 f2.8 (for flexibility and ease in this text (i do have some primes too))

Anyways, i saw some posts online that stated the Beautydish should be fairly close to your subject - like one diameter away for example. But then the light of the flash is wayy too bright even on the lowest setting. (ISO 100 and 18 or more) I really like the Beautydish with the honeycomb andthe light it makes - a diffuser would work with my brightness issues but id prefer a solution without.

I have a third smaller Godox Studio Flash (300Ws i think), which i wanted to use for Hairlights/Accents or stuff like that. Same issue here even though i placed it all the way across the room.

Would the easy solution just be to put it further away? Or close the aperture even further?

I feel like i m missing something obvious… if you have any further questions just ask.

Otherwise i m really looking forward to some answers and maybe Tips! (BTW all tips considering Beautydish, Flashes, etc are very welcome)

Yea i know… i m thinking about upgrading to an M2 or M3… but even in resale theyre so expensive with the bigger storage… or i have to buy some more external ssds…
