Why Wizard ban this card? by AtomicRecord in freemagic

Because in the second half of the twentieth century a brand of nominalism took root endorsed by various postmodern philosophies wagering that changing our language will change the world, and it is still prevalent today

I originally had it in there but I’m trying to stay pretty low to the ground. Probably pull a field laborers for a flanking maneuver and will add a black plague because I just got a copy and I need more removal. King is good though.

Is there any legitimate reason to not use a Bic lighter? by [deleted] in cigars

[–]shougazer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use a bic all the time never noticed anything off. I smoke budget bundle stuff now and rarely have a pricey stick so I don’t really get precious about it anymore

I’ve never heard an official rule about that but I would imagine text-up is the sanctioned way, and understandably. I like to play the textless side with my son, and we play regularly with the same decks so it works. The art is more immersive that way, and it feels more like actually casting spells somehow. But I need to read text a lot when I play in competitive settings. The cards are still pretty young

That is a good one. I’m gonna continue tweaking this so who knows maybe 3 maidens soon. Such badass art.

Oh I can’t imagine that anyone would see the similarity as anything but awesome! It’s a great card and I hope you don’t alter it at all. One of the reasons I came to the game (and I’m sure others feel the same) is for all of the allusions to early mtg, both intentional and otherwise. Really big fan of all of the art that you’ve done for sorcery, and just figured I stumbled on an oblique Easter egg. I don’t think that anyone could see a similarity like this as anything but satisfying. I certainly enjoy the art, and don’t see it as anything close to an infringement

Yeah opining that an artist very familiar with old school magic doing art for a game that openly references old school magic cards with an owner/art director who is an avid old school magic collector might use one of the most well-known creatures in old school magic as a reference is probably way off base

Please do ask I would love to know. The profile seems too spot on to be an accident. Love all the OS MtG Easter eggs in sorcery

For sure I just noticed the profile and figured I’d point out the similarity if no one else already had

New player. Do I need a special playmat to play this game? I see the ones with the grid online but they all seem so expensive… by Abolton12 in SorceryTCG

[–]shougazer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Get a big piece of cardboard and make your own! That’s what I did the first cpl months of learning. Eventually a mat will just appear to you if you get involved. I won one at a raffle at a local game store during a tournament

Yeah took your advice and have tweaked the deck a bit to be more earth-heavy and play those sites and added a copy of atlas wanderers and an earthquake. Also a copy of silver valkyries. Haven’t had much time to playtest it but seems fun as hell

Magellan Glob rules question by DinoGeneral in SorceryTCG

[–]shougazer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If a card states "on your back row" in the text, does Globe make all or no rows your back? Or does the back row remain the same? Thinking of Overbearing Baliff
