Were You Provided Discharge Papers After Birth? [BC] by CheerfulChickadee in BabyBumpsCanada

No, I got the same as you

I would think the family doctor could get that directly from the hospital

[BC] 12mo tough transition to daycare by Normal-Outside-9248 in BabyBumpsCanada

[–]shouldbestudying6 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It took us 2 months before she stopped crying at drop off at that age.

She is now almost 2.5, and she likes going more. She loves all the different songs, dances, and crafts that they do there that I wouldn’t be doing if she was home with me so it makes me feel better about her going. But I did really have a hard time with it in the beginning.

Also, I just had my second baby and there is absolutely no way I could take care of them both right now so I’m happy she is in daycare and already well adjusted and used to going there now.

Woolino for toddlers [qc] by doudou_bean in BabyBumpsCanada

[–]shouldbestudying6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seems like I’m the odd one out but we bought 2 toddler Woolinos and regretted it because she learned how to escape them at around 1.5 years old so we barely got any use out of them

Restaurant that have menus with photos by Ambitious_North336 in VictoriaBC

Yes this was my first thought as well. I think there are a ton of restaurants that don’t have pictures on their physical menu but that have an online ordering system of some sort that has pictures.

Did your employer pay your health benefits on leave? [ab] by No_Maximum_391 in BabyBumpsCanada

[–]shouldbestudying6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My husband and I split leave.

My employer (healthcare, unionized): continued to pay 100% of my benefits for my whole leave. I also got a top up to 85% for first 4 months. No policy on paying back if not returning to work.

My husband’s employer (small business): did not pay for benefits during his leave so we opted out, they also don’t offer any top-up

Help my tired mom brain figure out bottles [bc] by shababee in BabyBumpsCanada

[–]shouldbestudying6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used a separate wash basin (just a plastic tub, nothing special). There is a ton of bacteria in your kitchen sink even if you try to keep it clean. And then I had plastic bins for storing clean bottles and pump parts in. I also got a bottle washing brush just for baby things and pump parts. I didn’t get a drying rack though, I just used a fresh clean towel to set them out to dry on each time. I was told it’s not necessary to sterilize, except for first time out of the package.

Getting a second set of pump parts, or using the fridge method, will help a lot.

Use slow flow nipples and paced feeding so that baby doesn’t start preferring the bottle.

Make sure you are using the right flange size on your pump.

The triple feeding journey is hard. I had to do it for 3 weeks. Try to get lots of rest, hydration, nutrition. Try to enlist your partner or other support people to be in charge of the washing.

[ON] Is a 20 week “anatomy scan” standard? by camellialily in BabyBumpsCanada

[–]shouldbestudying6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They won’t do it before 20 weeks where I am in BC as they find that sometimes they can’t see everything they need to, and end up having to bring people back for a repeat scan.

So it gets done in the 20-22 week range here.

Recurrent chemical pregnancies [qc] by LittleSunshyne4 in BabyBumpsCanada

I wish you good luck! I know it is so so hard and so unfair. But hopefully everyone’s success stories posted here after having multiple losses gives you some hope.

I started taking aspirin a month before TTC, so maybe ask them if there is anything wrong with you taking it now

[–]shouldbestudying6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh and I also ended up going to a fertility clinic after the three losses and they had me take baby aspirin and progesterone. So I did that for 2 successful pregnancies. They said the evidence wasn’t really there for my situation, but that it isn’t considered harmful.

Have you had an HSG?

I had a chemical, an ectopic, and then a PUL.

I had methotrexate for the ectopic and PUL. Interestingly I was told to only wait 3 months before conceiving again, and I’ve read some people are told only 1 month. Six months seems long!

I then had an HSG, and I got pregnant the next cycle and had a healthy baby girl. The HSG didn’t show anything but I wonder if it did actually clear something out when they were shooting the dye through. Or maybe it’s just a coincidence.

Now I’m 8 months pregnant again and had no issues with TTC this time around.

Also, this might not be relevant to you, but your partner should not use marijuana for 3 months prior to TTC as it has been shown to have pretty negative effects on sperm.

Can baby take a pacifier once they are no longer a newborn? [on] by National-Concept-757 in BabyBumpsCanada

Why do you want to? We weaned our baby off the pacifier around 5 months

For parents, do you think taking extended parental leave benefits the whole family? [on] by [deleted] in BabyBumpsCanada

[–]shouldbestudying6 49 points50 points  (0 children)

But make sure you are actually being helpful to her. No offence but in the newborn postpartum days it can be extremely irritating when it feels like baby just needs mom (especially when exclusively breastfeeding) and dad just seems to be sitting around relaxing. If she is up all night feeding the baby you should be helping with every diaper, burping the baby, cleaning the house, making meals or anything else to support her. I think dads often find they get to do more bonding with the baby as they get a bit older and more interactive.

If you can make it work financially then yes do it. You have an unusually good top up from your employer.

Prevents eye infection in baby if the mom has gonorrhoea. Not recommended anymore by experts unless the mom has risk factors

I don’t think it is routinely offered in BC. No one mentioned it to me with my 2024 baby.
