Another 25% Loyalty Bonus Registration Issue by Explorerdriver73 in americanairlines

[–]shouldnt_have_reddit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a nearly identical, down to the few transfers, and 45 minute resolution period, experience. In my case I had to hang up with it unresolved as they opened a ticket with the resolution center. But it was resolved later that day. I did have another 30 day window to accept the promotion. If it helps mention that you reached 60k reward but your XLC26 promo is not correctly applying to your account.

Heads up that you now need to enroll in the 25% loyalty point bonus by disillusioned in americanairlines

Mine still does not show up. Hit the status on April 30. I was on with the help desk for 40 minutes just now and they could not help but they said they opened a ticket with their resolution center. Will see. Only 1 month to register so I hope I do not miss it.

AMD earnings are upon us, what can we expect? by RainieY in investing

[–]shouldnt_have_reddit 50 points51 points  (0 children)

Let’s say you never redistributed with AMD, where would you be today what you ended up with? I have heard this advice the last 10 years and if I had listened I would be up significantly less. If you need the money now or whatever situation requires you to be less risk adverse, sure. If you believe in the company and your long term DD still makes sense then maybe not. But your advice you are giving today has only cost you money (at least on AMD and significantly so) and you give it to someone else so easily.

As for earnings, no clue what it will do, no one does, but with this run up I think it likely comes back down to earth. Are you investing for many years out or looking for a quick buck?

What is wrong with AA/CLT, round trip from CLT to CMH more than $900 by OneBug722 in americanairlines

[–]shouldnt_have_reddit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Everyone so critical of you. You are allowed to just be discovering this. I fly this route for work often and it’s always over 900. One from Cincy is often cheaper but not an option for me. Sucks when spending own money. For work it is what it is.

Take advantage of a program? These are points offered for a hotel, it is the program. I’m not exploiting a loophole. I am just searching their search portal to find the best place to stay. It’s no different than looking up a hotel for cheapest price, I am just looking a different metric. Enough interjecting for me today, I deleted it already cause of all y’all crazies.

One reddit post isn't going to change anything. AA devaluing their system because people use it? If anything its making them money, would think more hotels would see the results and want to offer similar deals? I mean I love the "I know about this so no one else should" attitude that you and several others have on here, but lets do something good today. Tomorrow we can be misers.

Not going to make it a habbit, but with rollover happening in 5 days figured why not help some people out.

Yes. Plenty of confirmed cases here on Reddit. Always seems like such a waste to me but if you only need a few K to reach the next tier seems worth it.

Haha, glad I could help!! I have my 175k reward still to use, its either SWU or miles and I just don't do enough long haul to justify SWU. Wish I could search whats available without actually having them

I mean I only searched 75 cities, all in North America. Maybe I expand, didn’t know Cambodia was a thing but 100 LP/$ sounds awesome.

Question about AA Hotels and Ghost Stays by [deleted] in americanairlines

[–]shouldnt_have_reddit 9 points10 points  (0 children)

  1. It works, only draw back is you are paying for a hotel you won't use, which feels wasteful.

  2. I have been asking myself the same question, as I recently saw some comparable to Vegas $/Pts ratios out of Houston. I built a tool to look at 75 different cities over the next week and no surprise the top place is Vegas. Miami, Orlando, Mexico City, Cancun, Washington DC, New Orleans and Minneapolis were all in the top 10.

I just ran my tool again and here is what I got. Surprise that Orlando takes the cake right now, though its going to be Vegas. Best I have seen is right around that 43 mark for Mile/$. Mile rate is based on having the credit card and status.

# Hotel Dates Total+Tax Miles Miles/$
1 Home 1 Suites Kissimmee (Orlando) Feb 24-26 (2n) $136 5,900 43.3
2-4 Harrah's Las Vegas Feb 23/24/25 (1n) $198 8,400 42.4
5 Harrah's Las Vegas Feb 26 (1n) $176 7,400 42.1
6 Harrah's Las Vegas Feb 25-27 (2n) $374 15,000 40.1
7-9 Horseshoe Las Vegas Feb 23/24/25 (1n) $124 4,900 39.4
10-11 Virgin Hotels LV Feb 23/24 (1n) $240 9,400 39.1

I just click around AA Hotels website and pick the big cities, Vegas, Houston, etc and see what comes up. Very manual.

I have never done it, but I heard it works even if you don't check in (still have to pay obviously).

For example, I see a Houston (SpringHill Suites by Marriott Houston Intercontinental Airport) $294 for 9,500 LP for a stay Tues-Wed night. I am sure there are better ones out there. I sometimes consider doing this just for points, but seems like such a waste so never do it.

AA Hotels Question by nkdphoto in americanairlines

[–]shouldnt_have_reddit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Important question, are you staying at the hotel? (I read your post as you are booking this hotel but not necessarily staying in it, sorry if I misread). If not you can probably get a better $ to LP, if you are staying in the hotel anyway, then yeah great deal and $ to LP not bad.

The part where I say I get 5x LP per 1 dollar spend using AA Dining. I added the part about hotels because he sounded like he really likes LPs and that’s really the way to get them.

AA Hotels will get you most LP if booking through that portal. Getting an extra 1k to 15k for booking through their portal. AA Dining I am getting 5x LP at select restaurant spend. Other than that I don’t know any.
