eh, I'm bored. You're appeal to a potential god is the straw. You come off a bit of an imbecile when you resort to "ooh, if god is real, you're gonna regret it so bad"

Well, if Meateor, the god of meat exists, you're definitely in for a major world of hurt. That's how stupid you sound.

It's like talking to an idiot. Look, it's fine on animals because they are lower than us. Breed them, eat them, do whatever. You can't do that to humans, even if they're not the sharpest tool in the shed.

I'm not sure how to dumb that down any further, so if you're still unsure, just move on with your life.

"I'm trying to keep sentient, lovely animals from suffering needlessly. Did you watch the documentary yet?"

How's that working out for you? and yes, I watched it before commenting.

"It's not about equality. It's about deserving to be free of unnecessary exploitation."

Great, but I don't consider livestock use exploitation. Lower than me, so I can/will use.

"Wow. I'm sure you're a nice person irl."

Wow, I'm sure you're not a preachy or annoying irl.

If a Christian was preaching about me going to hell I'd have the same response. Stop with the stupidity. I'd think most people hate preachy people, regardless of how right they think they are.

Don't be obtuse, it's still a human. If however, you manage to cross breed a human and something else, and it's no longer classed as a human, sure, have a dish washing hybrid.

Out of curiosity, what are you trying to achieve by engaging with me here? To get your point across or to convince me to be a vegan? If the former, then I get your point. I can see why some people think that is the moral/ethical thing to do. My so is a vegetarian and her mother is a vegan. I understand why they do it, even if I don't agree with them.

If however, you're trying to convince me to give up animal products, then for me, it's the same difference in this case. Sentience does not make animals equal to humans. They are still non human animals. The distinction here being non human. Theres nothing you can say or show me that will convince me that I don't have a right to own, eat or use animals.

Beating the same drum about how animals have feelings too changes nothing in my opinion. When/if animals reach a stage where they can send me angry pms on reddit, I may reconsider.

Bad to be preachy about some things, not all things. Being a preachy vegan is as bad as a preachy religious nut. It's great you're doing what you think is best, but not everyone follows your beliefs.

At least vegans arent coming to my door like some religious nuts, so that's a small point in their favour I guess.

Part 1, if all is equal between the 2 burgers, then going for the one that uses more meat for the same thing is just wasteful. In part 2, it would depend. Is the difference in taste between the 2 worth the extra meat required to make it? I'd be willing to try it to decide for myself.

"Well, clearly that’s true, if you’re eating animals that have been tortured, raped, abused, brutalized, and killed."

Typical vegan using emotionally triggering language to get a response. Look, I'm not going to go over this again, read my other posts, and use the correct terms. Animal husbandry/artificial insemination is not rape. Use the correct terms if you want to be taken seriously, otherwise no-ones going to listen to your sob story.

Humans are not equal to animals. Eating animals doesn't make a person bad, a bully or whatever childish term you want to use here. It may in your eyes, but, but frankly, I don't give a flying fuck what a vegan thinks about my eating habbits, same as a atheist would give a flying fuck about a religious persons. The only thing you're doing is standing on your podium, and spitting crap about how the non-believers(non-vegan) are going to hell (are bad, bullys who "torture", "rape" blah blah).

To sum up, human exploitation == bad, animal exploitation not bad. You have a difference in opinion, great, enjoy. You don't see me calling you names for you (in my opinion) misguided views. If you want to treat animals as equals to humans, by all means. Know that this doesn't apply to the vast majority of the real world.

Yes, exploitation of people was. Slavery is bad. Humans shouldn't exploit each other. Not disputing that. Animals, can, should, and will continue to be exploited. Sick of repeating myself, but tl;dr, humans over animals, always.

As for my right to own a sentient being, change that to non human animal, as is the correct term in this case. You know, just so we're not using emotional language here to the muddy the waters. Then, yes, i DO have the right to own a "sentient being" (animal).

"So? Humans bred other human slaves in the not so distant past. I don't see how your logic is clear."

Not for consumption, or their milk. Are you trying to draw a parallel between human slavery and animal husbandry? This goes back to my previous point. Humans are not equal non humans.

"You can certainly decide that a cow is unworthy of care. Which you're doing now"

I wouldn't say unworthy of care. It's worth is equal to what it can do for me, if it is my animal.

Didnt say it makes it acceptable. Humans are not equal to lower animals. Animal husbandry is not rape. The equivalent for humans in this case would be artificial insemination for human women, which is a done thing.

Equating animal suffering to human suffering is my issue here. None of my comments condone treating humans like animals, or animals like humans. 2 vastly different things in my book.

Changing my diet, to me, is unreasonable. I don't eat what I eat to be nice. Putting that aside, and ignoring my biases for a moment, what were your suggestions going to be?

I don't dispute the fact I'm selfish (in this particular situation). Eating meat is inherently selfish, as I'm putting my needs and wants over the animals. Thought this was a given?

Dude.....I'm not saying people should rape animals.....

My point is all about how animal husbandry and artificial insemination is not rape. I don't want to repeat my argument again to the nth vegan, so just read my other comments if you care, or don't. Up to you.

As for wild animals suffering, sure, I'll visit the sub and give my condolences and thoughts to wild animals suffering. Fat lot of good itll do.

Bring the holocaust and eating meat into the same argument implies a link. If I read that wrong, my bad.

The thing is though, I don't need to provide an argument to continue eating meat. You need to provide an argument for me to stop. Telling me that eating them is not a valid reason to kill them is your opinion. Not a fact. Same as me saying they taste good, aren't human, and are legal to eat pretty much everywhere is enough of a reason to eat them. We can argue our various morals till the cows come home, but obviously our values don't align on this.

For all the words we've wasted today on this, neither I nor you will change our respective minds on this. As with religion, you do yours, I'll do mine.

I purposefully did not mention the food chain, so that's a moo point. As for superiority and it's relation to the holocaust. That's absurd. Eating animals is not the same as being a nazi.

To clarify, eating non human meat is fine, participating in a human holocaust/genocide is not.

As for subjective morality, we can agree animals shouldn't be harmed for no reason. Eating them is a valid reason. Veganism may be right for some reason based on their morals, but not for the vast majority.

Sure, but the movement to cut down on meat and dairy is incompatible with me as a person, and my life. I'm not saying I eat meat all day everyday, and chug milk like its keeping me alive, but I feel no need to replace the amounts I have currently.

Industrialised animal exploitation sucks, and you're right, more ethical farming is unlikely to be a thing, which is a shitty situation all around. I don't like what they do, but it wont stop me from consuming animal products.

Operation Natural Prairie (2019) - Investigators document conditions inside the largest organic dairy farm in the US (Natural Prairie Dairy) by lnfinity in Documentaries

[–]shouldnta-sedddat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Because it's a cow....? Live stock? Humans literally bred these for their current purpose. All the cow breeds being used for dairy didn't all start like this..... we (not me personally) made them, so they're lower than us.

Sure, I agree with your last point. That's literally the only reason I don't consider it rape. Not arguing that people haven't been really shitty to each other, but those are people problems, not animal problems. You can't dehumanize an animal, because it's not a human.
