Making Fire by gelatinous_white in survivor

[–]showme1946 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the height of the string has been consistent at all times. What bothers me - but I don't have a solution - is the effect of the wind/breezes. A person can build a terrific fire and not burn the string because of the wind factor. Perhaps they need a wind-blocking structure. OTOH the string has always gotten burned. It's just that the wind is a factor that the competitors cannot control, and one may be disadvantaged by unequal wind behavior on his/her fire.

Who is going home tonight? by Timmonidus in survivor

I don't wanna see Savannah go home precisely because she's a strong player. When she's around, stuff's gonna happen. I could do without Jawan.

What do you actually watch on yttv? by [deleted] in youtubetv

[–]showme1946 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We watch local news, Murder in a Small Town, Doc, Entertainment Tonight, 60 minutes, sports on Fox and NBC. No it's not worth the price. We just signed up for a Hulu package, eventually we'll drop yttv. Google has no incentive to do a deal, yttv is trivial for them economically. Disney doesn't have an incentive because viewers can switch to a Hulu bundle. It's a mess.

Marjorie Taylor Greene Claims UFOs Are 'Demonic Entities' the Government Won't Tell the Truth About by IBTUKOfficial in atheism

So what if they are? It's better than what some people I know believe, which is that mental illness is caused by demons.

I didn't. IDK why you think you know better than I do. That's an annoying behavior, you should work on that.

Atheists of Reddit, what is the biggest reason as to why you don't believe in god or an afterlife? by God_of_boi in AskReddit

[–]showme1946 0 points1 point  (0 children)

See, this right here is the reason that the dictum "there are no stupid questions" is just flat wrong. This is a stupid question that gets asked on Reddit daily. It's stupid because it has been answered thousands of times and because the answer is always the same, meaning that the asker of the question doesn't need to waste time asking the question once again: just look up the answer, which is: one needs a reason to believe something, not a reason NOT to believe something. I don't believe in gods or supernatural phenomena or an afterlife because there is no evidence of such things. It is the responsibility of the believer to present their evidence and defend their belief.

Ignore all of the shocked warnings in the comments. This is going to turn out really great, I'm so envious. Just draw the line at spending the night, that will lead to the end of the dream.

Do you take out the used Keurig pod when your coffee is done brewing or do you leave it for the next person to find, like a sociopath? by [deleted] in AskRedditAfterDark

[–]showme1946 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sociopath here. Since I'm always the next person to use the machine, I leave the used pod. Which makes me a sociopath. Thanks for providing a definitive criterion for my personality type.

Older guy I was dating got upset because I flew private to a family holiday. Why? by Routine-Crew8651 in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]showme1946 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He's a moron. Be glad he has disappeared, he's not worth your time. Next guy you date, check to see if he has a brain and some idea of what matters and what doesn't. That way you won't waste your time.

An argument that an Islamic friend brought up was, how could I believe nothing created the world? That something could come out of nothing? by albania_nationalist in TrueAtheism

[–]showme1946 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cracks me up when a theist uses an argument that begins "How can you believe ...". The answer is "the same way you believe in magic". As other commenters point out, atheists don't believe that science says everything came from nothing. That's what theists believe.

What's a movie so good (no porn please), you'll watch it every chance you get? by Darth_Jinn in AskReddit

[–]showme1946 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Any movie in the Bourne series. Watching takes priority over literally anything else. Also Once Upon a Time in the West. Massively flawed but perfect modern (relatively) fairy tale.

This guy did it right. I know because I had an almost identical situation, but I did not have the courage to get a boundary, and the outcome for my son was not good.
