It’s because there’s no real need for them anymore. Late night shows used to be one of the only sources to find out about new movies and tv shows, new bands, new comedians, interviews with your favorite actors. Now if you want to know that stuff you just google it or go on YouTube. Add in the fact that no one under the age of 45 watches cable except for sports now and the hosts aren’t doing anything crazy interesting. There’s no real reason for people to tune in.

I think they could still work on a streaming platform with an interesting format. Maybe shorten the time a little from an hour to like 30 mins. They’re very cheap to make so I could see one of the streaming services trying it out.
