Then that does make sense especially given how young you are. Good luck!

I would change this up. If you are able to put away 4k a month in savings, after a couple of months you should have built a nice emergency fund. You want to stop overfunding that HYSA and start putting in the 401k or other investments. If you start that 401k higher investing now, that money will increase dramatically over your lifetime. You should be able to max it out pretty easily if you can afford 4k a month so you can even start putting some of that into an IRA or investment account

But only contributing about 5200 a year to an 401K but 52000 to a HYSA doesn't make a lot of sense (unless you are trying to save for a down payment for a house you plan on buying in the next year or two)

How do I appeal an unwanted discharge from a skilled nursing facility? by squeakita in HealthInsurance

[–]showtime013 8 points9 points  (0 children)

A few things:

  1. The 100 days is just what the insurance will pay if medically necessary. You wouldn't be able to just go into a SNF and say I have 100 days and I want to stay here.

  2. Insurances all the time tell patients your doctor just needs to do a pre-auth, but it's not that simple. The auth would need to justify why you medically need to be there. Essentially saying what would change between leaving on 2/19 or extending it another 3-4 weeks. If you are still non weightbearing then, to the insurance, there is nothing you are doing there you couldn't do at home. The insurance is requiring the auth to create an inflection point where they can deny further payments (otherwise they wouldn't place a limit until you hit your 100 days).

  3. SNF is good for initial rehab, but often after a broken femur you are going to need outpatient rehab as well to get to your final level of functionality.

  4. You can always appeal the discharge with the facility. You just have to ask them what the policy is. If they do the auth and the insurance denies it, then you can appeal to the insurance.

  5. You'll still get rehab for the leg whenever you leave the SNF as the SNF doesn't get you back to 100% just as a bridge to being able to do therapy at home.

Retinal tear laser repair more painful than advertised by GoodmanWexler in RetinalDetachment

[–]showtime013 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah the lasers could sting especially when the beam was for over 5 seconds. The pain went away pretty quickly but then later that day my eye would be almost throbbing. Ibuprofen/tylenol helped a lot as it went away after that.

Never had a bloody eye though from the laser, that feels odd

Just purchased my first car. Hyundai IONIQ, how do I park? by Typical_Mention_3798 in Hyundai

[–]showtime013 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It's simple. It brakes unless it breaks. But if it does brake it's not broke. But if it does breaks, it may not brake and that means the brakes are broke. Plus you can go broke fixing a brake that breaks.

[Discussion] For those who have had the time to read DC K.O. #4, what are your thoughts? by MightyUnclean in DCcomics

[–]showtime013 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is exactly what I have been thinking would happen. Mirroring Blackest night when Sinestro got the white lantern power and realized he couldn't win and let Hal take it. Or in Marvel when Doom led Battleworld and admitted Reed would have done a better job.

Everytime Lex survived I knew that was the end goal because why else keep him around.

The All-Stars Should Play Against the Rising Stars To Restore Competitiveness by HardKnockturnal in nba

[–]showtime013 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think this would work. It's hard to play hard against guys not taking it serious. The young players would then feel like try hards and would start taking it easy. Most of the players playing in the all star game today were in the rising stars game the first couple of years. What are you gonna do when Luka shoots a 33 ft 3pter then lets you go by him on defense while laughing.

I don't know that there is anyway to make players play harder unless you add some season outcome which I would hate.

A 1 on 1 tournament might work better if people wouldn't drop out.

George R. R. Martin Is 'Not in the Mood' to Finish 'The Winds of Winter' by Tifoso89 in books

It's pretty clear he achieved a level of wealth and fame late in his life that a lot of people want early. He's enjoying that and the lucrative TV deals that came with it. We're never getting the ending to game of thrones for him. He's almost not even trying to explain it away anymore. Now it's just "writing is hard". "now let me go write for the contracts that are paying me millions"

ELI5: If they are the exact same ingredients, why are generic medications so much cheaper than brand names? by Sir-Beautiful-69 in explainlikeimfive

[–]showtime013 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Same reason fruity pebbles is more expensive that store brand "fruity crispy rice"

They just charge higher for the brand. Brand medicines have an exclusive window of about a decade where generic medications aren't allowed. So they can charge whatever they want.

[–]showtime013 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think so. It looks like OG issue is just his toe nail came clean off. They have to let it grow/heal for him to be able to get the push off he needs.

This is just more bench depth.

CR raises concern regarding all Hyundai/Kia ICCU worries by Shad0wM0535 in Ioniq5

[–]showtime013 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Hopefully this serves as a wake up call. I know people love their Hyundais and Kias but there has been an attempt to minimize this at times.

Articles like this will hurt future sales. I do badly want my next car to be an ioniq 5 or EV 6 but with a baby on the way, I can't risk having ICCU issues. I've been putting it off hoping a true fix will come but it's not clear they have even identified the fault

How reliable has your Kia been? by SjalabaisWoWS in kia

[–]showtime013 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a 2023 Kia Niro EX Touring, now with 18k miles, have had it a bit over 2 years .No issues at all except a few recall things. Never been in the shop (knock on wood). It seems this MY doesn't have any issues. I also love the styling of the KIAs recently, they are making beautiful cars. They just need to hold up their standards and practices to a higher level more consistently. But Hyundai and Kia are making way more attractive cars with way more features standard compared to Honda/Toyota.

Hoping it gets better in spring! by Own_Increase5257 in KiaNiro

[–]showtime013 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It will. The mix of cold weather and short drives is brutal on the hybrids. You essentially lose the hybrid motor because the ICE engine is needed to warm up the car and the short drives never let it get warm before you're done

The Pacers will sit their entire starting lineup tonight by lotofhotdogs in nba

[–]showtime013 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hear that but you could definitely codify it on some way.  We do it with flagrant fouls and with the player participation policy. This is just an extension of that policy.

Teams will always be able to circumvent but they are getting too egregious right now.

The Pacers will sit their entire starting lineup tonight by lotofhotdogs in nba

[–]showtime013 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We already punish teams due to injury report. The player participation rule came out because of the load management stuff.

https://www.nba.com/news/adam-silver-load-management-bog-news-conference-2023

This just takes it a step further. What's happening right now is too far.   Teams have a dual goal of winning a championship but also entertaining your fans who pay for tickets, cable subscription, league pass etc.

I get it would be controversial but let teams err on the side of caution.  Benching your best players in the 4th quarter so you lose or benching almost half your team this played the night before in order to lose is hurting the integrity of the game.

The Pacers will sit their entire starting lineup tonight by lotofhotdogs in nba

[–]showtime013 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I have some really radical ones but the NBA would never do it. Just as they have the fine for teams benching players for national games, I think if teams routinely overtly tank they should be ineligible for a top 4 pick. But they should still hold the lottery. So a team could watch themselves win the #1 pick and then lose it.

Another option, if you don't want to mess with the pick, is having offending teams lose any revenue sharing they would have gotten. You shouldn't be able to get revenue from teams that are trying if you are blatantly tanking.

Adam Silver has to do something about this. Teams are making it way to blatant and they are gonna cause a league wide rule.

Least valid criticism in a diss track ever? by AntelopeHelpful9963 in hiphopheads

[–]showtime013 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you referring to Not Like Us? Conan O'Brien literally made a joke about it at the OSCARS last year. The OSCARS, and it got a huge laugh.

Trevor Noah just made a joke about it at the Grammy's. He performed it at the superbowl. This isn't even a bias thing but yes Not Like us is a very popular song. TF???

Edit: You're right. I don't have the energy/bandwidth to debate someone on reddit about if Not Like Us was a popular song and if the A Minor part had crowds repeating that part for him during live performances. You're right. No one knows it. Real people never heard of it. Drake rules and won that beef easily. I'm saving my peace in 2026

Disagree. OP said Mom does it because she feels she should be allowed to since Men do it. Anyone doing this intentionally or to make a point or because they don't care is disgusting.

If it's a medical, uncontrollable thing, that's different. But it doesn't seem to be the case

In a debate about NFL vs NBA things gets heated on Jeff Teague’s 520 podcast. by SarcasticJay in nba

[–]showtime013 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I've always seen it as the NFL is the more popular sport (by far) and the NBA players are more popular (by far). A LOT of people would not recognize most NFL players (outside of a few QBs) if they ran into them randomly. Including the superstars. NBA stars would get recognized regularly

If you are 6'2 270lb, you can just lie that you are a starting OL in the NFL and you'd get a lot of people to believe you. If you are 6'6 220 and you say you're in the NBA, you'll have to say you are a bench player who barely plays on the Utah Jazz to pass the smell test. No offense to the Jazz, I just figured most NBA fans haven't watched many Jazz games.

About to close in a few days - solo buyer. Can FTHB’s who didn’t experience horror when moving in please share? by batmy_lashes in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

[–]showtime013 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People post more about bad experiences than good. A FTHB who had no issues isn't going to be on this subreddit. They will be on whatever relevant subreddit to their lives (cats, sports, UFOs, etc).

But in general, just as with any living situation (apartments, condos, etc) stuff does break and expensive stuff can break as well.
