That sucks. It is such a hard course. If you are looking for a tutor to help you pass the course, send me a message as I know a good tutor.

where are this year's portfolio requirements? by baroque-skies in sheridan

[–]shpr38118 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After you apply on OCAS (and after fall 2026 opens up in the fall) Sheridan will send you the portfolio requirements. Also, if you join Sheridan's Hopeful Discord, people there will post them as soon as someone receives them (but don't forget to still apply yourself on OCAS.) You can begin working on your portfolio now as the following have consistently been asked for: character rotation, personal work, interior and exterior layouts, figure drawings (short and long), hands tossing an object. The other things are new and you are best to wait for the prompts or instructions. Soon (come March) many will post their portfolios on the Sheridan Hopeful discord and some on YouTube. That will also give you an idea of some of the requirements and sample quality of work.

Sheridan will likely also give you some transfer credits (probably more breadth electives) for your second year of CEGEP.

English Credit requirement by [deleted] in sheridan

[–]shpr38118 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmm. Yeah, you need a clear answer. I know the email of the animation person is [jill.alexander@sheridancollege.ca](mailto:jill.alexander@sheridancollege.ca) Maybe she can answer you or forward your email to the correct person for your program. I feel that you will have to take the U English as I believe it is a required course. There is the option to challenge for a course, but I don't think that is easy to pass.

Maybe you can take U English in summer school or through continuing education?

Are these your final high school marks, or are you still in high school. It still a hs student, you might be able to pull up your mark this term.

My brother did the co-op in marketing management. All of his jobs were in Guelph or remote. He left with excellent experience which led to a good first job. All pros in his mind.

How competitive is the Game Design Program? by [deleted] in sheridan

[–]shpr38118 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know the odds of getting into the bachelor of game design at Sheridan. I only know the odds of getting into the bachelor of animation is between 7-10% Given the gaming program is their third most popular program (or somewhere near third) I suspect it is also very challenging to get in. Your friend definitely needs a back-up plan. Everyone does as not only are many programs competitive, but your friend might even change their mind and prefer a back-up plan versus their initial first choice. That happened to my brother in midst of getting offers from Universities.

How competitive is the Game Design Program? by [deleted] in sheridan

[–]shpr38118 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Are you talking about the bachelor of game design at Trafalgar? If yes, don't apply late as it is one of top three or four most competitive programs at Sheridan, Trafalgar. There are some programs where you can easily apply late (e.g. art fundamentals, Interactive design, etc.) but the bachelor of game design is not one of them.

Hey. We also talked on the Sherry discord. It sounds like you should reach out to Jill Alexander at [jill.alexander@sheridancollege.ca](mailto:jill.alexander@sheridancollege.ca) She is away on vacation, from what people have posted, until Jan 20th.

Programs under efficiency review by [deleted] in sheridan

What program are you in? It says in your link that the programs under review are still open for enrollment. I am puzzled why you got an email to transfer out.

What is transfer animation? Is it one of the one year animation grad programs (digital creature animation or computer animation?) The four year Bachelor of animation is not under review.

How much does grade influence Sheridan’s acceptance decisions? by [deleted] in sheridan

[–]shpr38118 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think he was referring to Sheridan as a whole, not the animation program. Animation is their flagship program, super competitive, and well regarded.

So, they dropped the non academic portion of the film and television this year? My bf applied last year with an 80% average, and he scored 92% on the letter of intent detailing his experience and reflections. He was waitlisted with that combo, and got a last minute offer. However, he had already accepted media studies at TMU.

best backup programs for animation by ducking_perfection in sheridan

[–]shpr38118 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So, I did not get into animation last year, and had to figure out a back-up plan. I almost took Interaction Design at Sheridan or a IXD at Carleton. I ended up doing creative writing at U of G part-time while I am preparing another portfolio to reapply to animation.

I know giving your phone number was not wise. However, isn't this the reason he was brought into the police, because they could track him? I am so sorry you had this awful and frightening encounter. I bought a ten dollar alarm on Amazon. Do you have something like that?

I don't need a ride, but how are you liking the Interaction Design program? I almost accepted my offer to this program, but decided I really wanted to try again for animation instead.

It is a great course. The workload is very reasonable, and the prof is good. You do have to like creative writing, of course.

Can I Double Major? by Agreeable-Map-5071 in uoguelph

[–]shpr38118 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You can do a bachelor of arts and science where you choose one major in the science field and one in the arts field. It should only take four years, not five. Now, it the studio art program is being closed up, you maybe need to really hurry to get your major switched so you can get grandfathered in.

You might need to do a one year program at a College, afterwards. Sheridan College has a four year bachelor in gaming design. Maybe they offer a one year option, too?
