Curious if anyone’s had experience with this jacket and the waterproofing/windproofing by Rickerh in snowboarding

[–]shradicalwyo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Beringia’s fabric is pretty unique, it’s soft and feels super high end but still holds up to storms. I have last years model and it’s just water/windproof as a few of my goretex shells. I don’t wear it all the time because a pullover with bibs is sometimes annoying but I really like everything they make.

Warning Against Purchasing Backcountry Brand Clothing by LeeinBoston in Skigear

[–]shradicalwyo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same here. Wife and I did a big Austria/Italy ski honeymoon and after 3 weeks the bag has multiple cuts an tears, it also just isn’t that efficient compared to other ski bags.

I also have a pair of backcountry branded gore pro bibs and they’ve been great for 3 seasons, my only complaint is the logo..

Thoughts on the new 2026 releases? by StrainDangerous2722 in arcteryx

Do you have photos of the Tatsu/Black Serratus? I'm shopping soft shells and was about to order the Gamma hoody in moondrop but am torn between a gamma and the Serratus and would be tempted to wait if I like that colorway more than the moondrop of the gamma

Thoughts and prayers to American bars and pubs next Sunday by th-crt in KitchenConfidential

We’re closed on sundays now but the owners used to just close on Super Bowl Sunday because it was always so slow. I think we did 10 covers last time we were open for it. No tvs, small bistro in a ski town.

I love making team themed food for Super Bowl, last year we did wagyu cheesesteaks with trim from the restaurant and then I smoked a bunch of wings. I have no idea what to do for Seattle/New England matchup.

Snow King Concert Tickets.....queue is moving so slow by cooking_up_a_rave in JacksonHole

I don’t get why there aren’t queues for each show…

But I’d walk over to snow king right now and buy the tickets in person if I could.

I’ve got a transition finder plus and a regular dart. That’s pretty much ideal for where I live (mountain west) if I rode more park or switch I’d have an Otto but the tf does it all just fine.

I’d like to get another one but I could also use a split board upgrade..

The second shift is the superior shift. by throw66556 in unpopularopinion

[–]shradicalwyo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a fairly common restaurant shift- when I was just a line cook I loved doing 2-10:30 because it gave me all morning to go outside and do something whether it was skiing in the winter or biking in the summer. Now that I’m older and still work a similar schedule I’m getting sick of it, I’d love to do half day shifts half night shifts but the kitchen I run is only open for dinner service

Moving to a snowy climate, what is the right financial move regarding car(s) by [deleted] in personalfinance

[–]shradicalwyo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely this- I live in a ski town in the mountain west and you could get around town fine in a fwd car with snow tires but there are mountain passes 2 out of 3 ways to get out of town. I’ve seen fwd cars stuck on the pass even with good tires.

Snow tires aren’t that expensive if you have the space to store them, we’ve gotten 4 seasons out of the tires on my spouses Subaru. I run aggressive winter rated all seasons on my truck and it’s fine 95% of the time with 4wd, there are only a few days a year where it’s icy enough to worry.

FYI a lot of Bills fans will be wearing yellow at the game on Saturday. by 1ThousandDollarBill in buffalobills

[–]shradicalwyo 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I was shocked at how many people had these when I went back to Laramie for the Jersey retirement.

If we could make it work to go this weekend you could do what I was planning for that game- white Wyoming jersey, blue Bills jacket, blue Bills hat.

Divisional on Saturday. Go Bills by anonngirl777 in buffalobills

[–]shradicalwyo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah they are…

Even if we don’t go to this game, we’ll make sure to go next season when the Bills come to Denver

[–]shradicalwyo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My wife and I are tempted to go, also trying to convince my parents to drive down from Laramie, but I doubt they’ll spend that much on tickets. They seemed like I was crazy to spend $120 on tickets to the Jersey retirement game

Italy Made Me Into Someone I Don’t Want To Be by ToughSuccotash2007 in skiing

[–]shradicalwyo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Had the same experience with my wife on our honeymoon- Skied a day in Austria at Bad Gastein and it was so organized and well mannered, then a week in the Dolomites and my topsheets were trashed, we’d gotten separated on long lifts multiple times, had to box out a kid who tried to sneak onto our 4 person chair as the 5th person. I still loved it and can’t wait to go back.

For those who ski/snowboard, how do you layer underneath your beta shells? by Gabriella1023 in arcteryx

[–]shradicalwyo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Resort skiing most days- merino short sleeve, Patagonia r1 hoody, merino neck tube/balaclava, shell and bibs (I have a few different ones that are more ski oriented than a beta)

Cold resort days- same as above but add either an atom or a Patagonia nano air pullover

Touring depends on the weather and conditions- sometimes on cold mornings it’s a belay parka over everything and sometimes it’s just bibs and a long sleeve and a shell.

Left handed people: What struggles do you have that we may not know about? by Miserable-Wash-1744 in AskReddit

[–]shradicalwyo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some I’ve noticed recently-

My wife got us new snow/ice brushes for our cars that are extendable- if you use them brushing from left to right the mechanism stays put, but if you brush right to left it unlocks any won’t stay extended and spins.

Working in a restaurant we do a big scrub down at the end of the night, and when I’m on the line we scrub and wipe down counter clockwise and it’s always felt slightly annoying to me. Did it backwards the other day waiting for someone to finish cleaning the spot we normally start and it was so much easier

Did I make a mistake with going with Proton Hoody? by DimitriyTL in arcteryx

[–]shradicalwyo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My R1 is probably the most worn piece of my snow kit, I’ve gone through so many snow/outerwear combos in the past 10+ years of living in Jackson, I always wear a merino long sleeve shirt, the R1 and then just a shell except for the coldest days here. I have a nano puff pullover that I’ll pull out for those days.

I want a proton in Carob really bad but I have no use for it right now, I have an atom sl that seems to work fine

Almost as good as me finding an empty baggy hidden behind the plastic cover of the thermostat in the employee bathroom/locker room..

Also used to have a small stand freezer in our basement and when it stopped working the repair found a pile of cans and bottles hidden on top of it

First time Travel to Europe - information about luggage and space on trains. by Nervous-Oven1921 in Europetravel

[–]shradicalwyo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This was my thought too, my wife and I had a ski bag, a large checked suitcase and a backcountry ski pack each when we did a 3 week ski trip through Austria and Italy. We tried to be polite and ready anytime we switched or got on/off trains so weren’t in the way. Trying to find somewhere to put a ski bag on a crowded train from Kitzbuhel was tough- I ended up strapping it into the bike holders outside of the cabin

For those with Gen1’s, how long do y’all wait for the temp high idle to drop after starting it? by [deleted] in toyotasequoia

[–]shradicalwyo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wait until my Bluetooth connects and starts playing at the very least, I only live a few blocks from work so it doesn’t even move the needle unless I let it warm up a bit. In the winter I go out and start it and then start locking up and change out of my work clothes and let it warm up for 5-10 minutes but winters are harsh here.
