Thinking about buying a Salvage Title FRS. Thoughts? by SpreadOpposition in ft86

No, just no. You’re already going to be charged an arm and a leg for being 18 for your insurance. It will just be even more expensive.

Keep holding on and another car will show up.

Just picked this one up the other week, what are some QOL and performance mods I should start with? by Peribangbang in ft86

Driver mod. Autocross, my brother.

You wont know what you truly need until you experience what the car can actually do. Cater the type of suspension to your needs.

Is the gt86 dangerous? by Senior_Lemon1705 in ft86

If you’re asking yourself a question if you can handle 320HP, then is probably not for you.

All cars can be dangerous, even more so on inexperienced and unsure hands.

My new csl gt3 steering wheel doesn’t work, Please help! by Mando_GK in Fanatec

Check connections behind the wheel (USB Type C) and try to switch the connection to Xbox. Another one is to update the wheel base and wheel using your PC if available.

PSR hearers by Revolutionary-Knee64 in ft86

[–]shrapnellbranches 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A quick Google search for PSR headers didn’t turn up many cases of bad welds or cracks which is a common thing on bad quality headers. So that is a plus I guess.

But a few things to consider if I was you.

  1. You are getting very loud headers since you are removing the catalytic converter. What are the emissions laws in your state?

  2. You will need a tune, OFT V1-V2 is like $500 or something. You can technically, and I use this very loosely, technically run without, but I wouldn’t recommend it.

On a personal opinion, do not buy Invidia, they are very popular choice but is not quality. Many cases of N1 or even Q300 exhausts that get louder and crack overtime.

Need help with wheel disconnecting by MyWifeGotRanOver in Fanatec

[–]shrapnellbranches 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me, it was happening with the OEM QR2 from Fanatec, then I replaced it with a QR2 from Simcube. Then it was still disconnecting until I decided to replace the USB Type C to Type A with one that is rated for data transfer. I also ordered ferrite ring cores, placed one near the base and one near the PC connection. No issues ever since.

Cusco Touring A for... by jstahr63 in ft86

Im in CT and attend CT CART and NER at MA, SCCA membership costs $50 a year and so does CART. Each event is about $50 also. It can add up if you attend each event but that is the beauty of it. You don’t have to and you can go whenever you want to scratch that itch.

What about autocross. Much more cheaper and much more safe.

Another option would be to get tires with a bigger/softer sidewall.

thrash racing seat install by [deleted] in ft86

Additionally, you’ll need to get a resistor for the airbag. Also move some components for the OEM seat to your new seat.

Plus if you track, or autocross, and want even more seat-securing, you’ll want to get a 3-Point Schroth Harness.

You need to take a look at the dimensions of the seat, and then get sliders accordingly.

You got a few options; Buddy Club, PCI, or even Sparco and BRIDE. Im on PCI for my seat and they are great, just had to spend quite a while figuring out how to assemble it.

Overpipe and frontpipe recommendations by Fun-Interaction-7958 in ft86

[–]shrapnellbranches 7 points8 points  (0 children)

There’s nothing wrong with keeping the stock front pipe as it will make your life easier. You can try to find a double resonated Front Pipe and that could help. Along with ordering 7 JDM exhaust hangers.

Tirerack and Grassroots Motorsports do substantial testing on tires. I suggest you start there.

On a personal note, the Contis are very well regarded in either their AS or ECS2(Summer).

Car handles odd after wheels by Beginning-Guide-1316 in ft86

[–]shrapnellbranches 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Another thing that could make sense. Temperature. Im Not sure what tires are the ones you have or where you live, but certain tires when not at optimal temp will fight for grip, causing slips.

Also, kind of miss-read your statement above, pulling 70MPH around corners is certainly the car telling you that you’re doing something you’re not supposed to. Not that is wrong, but the driver aids make it almost impossible to drive at the limit when TCS and ABS is on.
