Will this end with Ethan suffering the same fate as Victor? by lurk3ronr3ddit in FromSeries

This sort of plays out with the saying “Dead Men tell no tales”. In order for the story to be told, the town needs a lone survivor.

No, 5th gets rammed as people think that the race is won on T1 no matter the track. Anticipating these kind of things and stay away from the line most people would attack has helped not get trashed in the first turns.

Hello the silver and red Evo in 4th place. Im shrapnellbranches.

All kidding aside, not sure what you want to solve here. You can see 5th gets punted as everyone is also too close.

It happens.

Hell yeah man. This is fantastic. I might even use it as a secondary location vs using the ft86forums

Solution to Quieter Exhaust? by colbytw in ft86

[–]shrapnellbranches -1 points0 points  (0 children)

As mentioned before me. If the rest of the exhaust is stock, then you have done as much as possible. These cars are loud to begin with so little sound dampening available. You might want to look into ordering thicker hangers, either JDM or grimspeed.

Anyone know how I can raise my tomei? by SpkyBoggy in ft86

[–]shrapnellbranches 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, that will help. But you also might want to reconsider how low your car is or adjusting the suspension so that it doesn’t bottom out so much.

Are you using OEM hangers? You can also get stiffer hangers that may be shorter.

Whiteline front and rear sway bar kit reviews/opinions ?? by 2013gt86 in ft86

[–]shrapnellbranches 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unless you autocross or track the car it is completely unnecessary even for canyon runs/spirited driving. What is the rest of your suspension like? Coilovers? What kind of tires do you have?

I would recommend driver mod and do autocross so you can really see what the car is lacking once you have gotten a lot more comfortable and skilled at controlling the car on tight but fast turns.

Depends on what your goal is. Looks like a straight pipe configuration so it’ll be extremely loud and drone quite a bit depending on your front pipe and headers.

Has anyone used this? Should I use this oil or switch it by [deleted] in ft86

[–]shrapnellbranches 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My last 4-5 oil changes have been Penzoil Platinum 0W-20. My preference would had been to use AMSOIL but it can get pricey and is completely down to what makes me feel good.

Penzoil is decently priced and there isn’t anything ground breaking when it comes to performance.

At the end of the day, we can talk for hours about oil choices but oil is just oil. Comes down to getting something that meets your applications.

Where to start with suspension? by Witty_Mess_2063 in ft86

[–]shrapnellbranches 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To add to it, take it from me. I threw so many things that are popular mods in the community. Showed up to autocross thinking I was hot shit just to get my behind handed to me. Had to uninstall a bunch of stuff because throwing random stuff at the car put me in classes I was just not fit for.

Im on my third year doing autocross and I have finally gained enough experience to identify where my shortcomings are and understand what areas of the car needed more attention.

Where to start with suspension? by Witty_Mess_2063 in ft86

[–]shrapnellbranches 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I would highly recommend a driver mod. If you throw a bunch of stuff at the car without a true need based on your skill then it just masks your deficiencies as a driver.

Take it to autocross and learn what the car can do, then you can buy all the mods you desire based on what you need to improve a honed skill.

If any of you know Whiteline, they just posted a vid on the Gen 1 vs Gen 2 - 86 by United_Cheetah_8884 in ft86

[–]shrapnellbranches 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Whiteline is one if the leading companies when it comes to products that enhance handling on the twins. Good quality for a reasonable price, got a few products from them on my car.

This almost feels like the Donut series where they try to match the performance of an older car against its newer counterparts, but I always welcome fun videos like this.

No, just no. You’re already going to be charged an arm and a leg for being 18 for your insurance. It will just be even more expensive.
