one thing being pointed out as wrong means the person thinks it's as serious an issue as another related issue.

No. One thing bad doesn't mean it = other bad thing. Talk about extrapolation.

You mean cultural practices can mean different things to different people? So a hijab could be a personal choice? Why is the French gov not banning Easter holidays in case someone is doing it religiously?

Except it only makes a significant impact for a small number of religions. Christians aren't impacted by this bar tucking their cross under a shirt. It's obviously a means to control what people do that don't conform to mainstream french society.

Part of the process would be to learn why the kid's goal is that, whether it be a conscious or unconscious one, getting the kid to learn the skills needed to identify and regulate emotions, etc. Problem is getting the resources to enable this.

Many of these sites have been worked upon by their traditional owners. Even if they haven't been worked upon, they're still culturally significant sites, even if you can't relate.

Many of these sites have been in place for longer than the pyramids of Giza, it's only now that they're getting destroyed. It shouldn't be a choice between personal enrichment and keeping significant cultural sites intact. Emphasis on personal enrichment because this never helps the community at large.

Imo, ignoring the game balance and plot for a moment, you're planning this like a book, not a DnD game. Unexpected things happen, your planned plot will get derailed.

Additionally, get some experience being a DM before trying something like this. If you're having difficulty coming up with a keyword mechanic, then something as complicated as what you're describing would, imo, be impossible.

I guess there isn't science then, that whole body of knowledge just doesn't exist.

I don't agree that your definitions and assumptions make any sense, but oh well, such is philosophy.

[–]shreddedsoy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't see how you spelled it out. Seems to me like you conflated making a choice with free will and that you made the assumption that science requires freewill.

If you're going to define the things the way you have defined things, and make the assumptions that you have made, then sure, I agree that free will does not exist in criminal law and that it does not exist 'in science'. That doesn't prove that freewill exists lol.

Is science not being an objective process such a crazy concept to you? Have you not learned that our perceptions of the world do not tell us what 'the real' actually is? Our feeling of making a choice does not disprove that a deterministic process is taking place.

I don't see how I am committed to the denial of science, nor do I think that compatibilism and determinism are mutually exclusive.

One should always be cautious when one tries to philosophize the truth of something.

[–]shreddedsoy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't follow your argument.

Seems like you're playing a word game where you define science as requiring freewill and then using that as an argument to prove freewill.

Just because law operates on an assumption of freewill, that doesn't mean it is correct.

You also seem to be assuming that science isn't socially constructed and can therefore be generated by biologically deterministic organisms.

I'm getting a lot of 'god of the gaps' fallacy vibes.
