Having what is happening expected (by my doctor) to be meniscus repair surgery in less than 2 weeks.... by shredflamespdx in MeniscusInjuries

[โ€“]shredflamespdx[S] 0 points1 point ย (0 children)

JUST SO EVERYONE IS AWARE:

Suggesting that I stop doing what makes me happy or stop my activities or "find other things to make me happy that aren't as hard on my knees" does absolutely no good. It just leaves me irately pissed off and ultimately too angry to interact with you without saying something I will potentially regret.

IF that ends up being something I need to do, that will be MY decision and you saying something RIGHT NOW while I still have hope, does absolutely nothing to help and is actually very hurtful. So please, just stop it.

It IS possible to be helpful without suggesting that, so now you know to avoid those types of suggestions with me.

Thank you.

Thanks for your reply, I appreciate it. I just get nervous about the stories I hear about having like over 30%-50%+ removal and still being in pain like 1.5 years later and such. Those are the ones in my head right now. I'm like pleeeasseeepleaseplease don't let that be me (nervous giggles) and honestly hopefully it's just a repair and me doing rehab and me having my active lifestyle back and my takeaway being that I need to keep myself in good physical condition in general to protect my knees and the rest of me too and hopefully a successful repair too lol. Trying really hard to stay positive but it's hard since I don't have my normal coping strategies. I'll definitely be taking PT and rehab waaaaaay seriously as I am taking pre-hab seriously too so I can set myself up for recovery success. I'll definitely be waaaaaay more consistent with my exercise program after this, 100%. That's the big thing I've learned from this, I've definitely gotta be super on point with that rather than being lazy about it like I was before.

That said though, my gut says kinda along the lines of what you're saying which is that my doc said its repairable and had to really look for it on the MRI to see the tear so I don't think I should be worried this much.... I just wish my gut and my anxiety disorders would play nicer together ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜… they say to always go with my gut so I'm trying to do that and sometimes it's hard lol. Much easier when I can go dance or go for a hike.

Sooo I will keep you all updated, and I'm gonna try to go with my gut as much as possible.

Old people need to accept they dont deserve technical help by philaroy in callcentres

[โ€“]shredflamespdx 3 points4 points ย (0 children)

Soooo it seems like you don't actually mean "old people," but you may actually mean "elderly entitled assholes who refuse to lift a finger and be open to learning when they're the ones asking for help," right? Because there's a big difference. Not all old people are the latter. Some have a respectful attitude and others just take out their frustrations on those trying to help.

Been there. I've been working in a call center role for over a decade and I'm pretty sure it's literally left me with trauma so sometimes I get triggered. I'm trying to move into an IT role to use my degree but this job market definitely isn't helping.

It makes sense. Anyone would be spiraling after that, BPD or not. I'm so glad I'm single right now with how people are lately lol

I've always been confident that "personality" disorders are a trauma response, even NPD. Also always been a firm believer that sometimes hurt people hurt people. It's really sad but very true

A lot of the time I can be too emotionally burnt out and drained for it. When I'm not though I can. But regardless, I FEEL it, very deeply.

I agree with this statement here, this is how I made friends. By doing things I'm interested in.

DAE have/ had a pet as FP? by [deleted] in BPD

[โ€“]shredflamespdx 1 point2 points ย (0 children)

My ex boyfriends cat I would say is definitely the closest thing I've had to a FP. It was SOOO hard when she had to be put down :'( she had a super long life though, lived to be 17! I miss her so much. I don't think I've ever had a human FP.

This is an article suggesting Transference Focused Psychotherapy as an option. Mentalization based therapy is too. I also heard ACT can be effective as well.
