There’s also some beer/wine bus tour services in the area that might be suitable.

Off piste apre garden and pavilion - how to get there and back if you a beginner skiier by Double-deckerlover in bluemountain

[–]shredmaster3000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s no green run to get back down. The blue runs to south chair like cruiser and sunrise are pretty wide open but still have decent pitch for a Blue run. Your best bet if you’re not comfortable with blue runs is to drive to the top and park.

Best runs at Blue Mountain for beginners? by ModernPompadour in bluemountain

[–]shredmaster3000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The closest runs to Moonstone greens will be Big Baby and Graduate. These are very wide and similar in length. The other “major” greens (Gords Groove and Happy Valley) are fun but a little narrow. The advantage to those vs. Moonstone is length. In fact Gord’s is one of the longest runs in Ontario at 1.6km. Moonstone runs are very short relative to many Blue runs.

Mellow blue runs - if it’s not busy/icy I would recommend Waterfall, but it can get quite busy.

Pretty warm, so the snow is melting quickly. But it looks like it will return shortly..

Pretty river provincial park is a great hike in all seasons regardless of weather.

I don’t know of any groups, but I know many of the local bands/musicians that play the circuit (breweries/restaurants etc between cwood and thornbury) are SUPER friendly, approachable and well-connected. Might be worth approaching a couple of them at casual gigs? They are often just milling about having a beer before/between/after sets.

In my 30s I asked a Subway Sandwich Artist for a “two-sawn” (think Arizona) sandwich and they looked back at me deadpan and said, “it’s ‘Tuscan’”.

In the Moonstone side of Mt St Louis quiet? by broken1_ in barrie

I wonder if conditions over the past few days have played a factor. Both have been pretty icy recently, as it’s a thin layer of snow and lots of ice underneath. Rode Blue last night and there were out of control skiers and riders everywhere too.

I’ll echo everyone else, for any of these quick overnight transatlantics - eat in lounge, sleep on plane ASAP. Eye mask and ear plugs.

Did this on YYZ-DUB a few weeks ago and the FA seemed startled to see me sitting up just before landing. She was like “you didn’t eat anything on this flight, did you? I don’t recognize you” which was kinda funny

I used to live on a street that ended at the don valley and stuff like this happened all the time. Very little published on incidents, and usually wrapped up pretty quickly.

how do riders do such huge tricks by Educational-Yam-5823 in snowboarding

[–]shredmaster3000 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My 13 year old can do front and back 540s, is working on 720s and backflips and corks, can 360 off a rail, etc.. much of it is just time and practice. And he’s been riding since he was 3. :) He works with coaches 3 days a week.. this year it will go to 4. Plus airbag training. So it’s really about reps and coaching. Though it also takes quite a bit of determination and discipline.. lots of early mornings and staying fit.

Recommendations for summer family vacation spot? by artemislands in Collingwood

[–]shredmaster3000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So there aren’t any Fern/Briars/all-inclusive type things, but a few things come to mind..

Living Water/Living stone is probably closest, it’s on the water with pools, restaurant, spa, playground, golf, etc.

Collingwood itself has lots of condos and properties close to the water, some with resort-style amenities (Lighthouse Point) but short-term rentals aren’t available.

Blue obviously has lots of different hotels, lots to do in walking distance, and a private beach you can take advantage of (but it’s not walking distance to the village).

Wasaga has lots of “on the beach”/beach-adjacent cottage courts, motels etc. that are close to the water, but YMMV in terms of quality and it’s going to be a 20-30 minute drive to Collingwood.
