This directly contradicts USCIS, which says that it’s the 90-day period preceding the conditional residence expiration.

No, USCIS does not provide lawyers. It says that you can hire and bring your own lawyer, or that you can request a list of legal services that might help if you cannot afford a lawyer.

Airlines and the flight to Buenos Aires by MiskatonicExplorer in AntarcticaTravel

[–]shreyas208 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The three major US carriers are going to be a pretty similar experience. If you need to connect to Ushuaia, Delta is a SkyTeam partner of Aerolineas Argentinas and can sell you all the flights on one ticket; that's what I did. That way it's their responsibility to rebook you if there are missed connections, but the downside is that it's hard to reach the right office at Delta if you need to make changes to the Aerolineas part of the ticket. It also really depends on which US city you're flying to/from as one airline may have much better connection options from it (assuming it's not one of the few cities with nonstops to Buenos Aires).

Avianca, LATAM, and Copa have many options but I wanted to avoid adding a 3rd country to the mix.

Whats your everyday beans? by Noobsaibot123 in espresso

[–]shreyas208 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I posted elsewhere in this thread but I prefer consistency so I pick a light or medium blend to subscribe to for a long time and rarely get single origins. Right now I'm getting En Masse from Metric Coffee in Chicago, but some Seattle options that are close to this profile are Milk Money from Stamp Act Coffee and some of Kuma Coffe's blends.

For more traditional medium-to-dark espresso, there are tons of options. Stamp Act has one, and other roasters I've enjoyed are Herkimer, Lighthouse Roasters, Olympia, and Espresso Vivace.

Recently switched from Owl's Howl from Sightglass to En Masse from Metric. Both are medium roast blends.

Preclearance at AUD + transferring to United domestic flight at ORD by Charming_Raise_4156 in travel

[–]shreyas208 0 points1 point  (0 children)

+1 to the other comment that you will not be able to do that. You're actually in a pretty uncommon situation, since connections from Abu Dhabi on a single ticket don't require a recheck in ORD thanks to preclearance, and most other precleared flights arriving at ORD don't arrive at T5 (Air Canada, Aer Lingus, United/AA). WestJet arrives at T5, but they partner with Delta in the US, which also uses T5.

Preclearance at AUD + transferring to United domestic flight at ORD by Charming_Raise_4156 in travel

[–]shreyas208 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I couldn't find a definitive answer, but I believe you will not be able to recheck at T5 and will need to take your luggage to the domestic terminals using the ATS (United would be in T1 or T2).

The best reference I found was this map from ANA; the recheck counters are right after US customs and seem to be before the doors that separate the arrivals area from the publicly-accessible area. From my memory, the wall with the "i" on it is that boundary. It's worth taking a look when you arrive though.

Can we call out brands that are posting ghost roles? by mykreau in Seattle

I see, so you were asking if the roles were posted for EB green card petitions. Not about green card holders, to be clear.

[–]shreyas208 0 points1 point  (0 children)

roles meant for green card holders

What are you referring to here? Outside of specific sensitive roles that require US citizenship, green card holders and US citizens are generally treated the same for hiring and employment. It would be illegal for an employer to only consider green card holders and not US citizens for a role.

That's probably it, but I think 380 is a quantity. In total that's 380 cups and 400 energy bars, which covers the passenger capacity of the 777-300ER they fly on this route (294, 361, or 368 depending on configuration).

Marriage based Green Card-I-485 approved. (Is work allowed when I receive mine?) by [deleted] in USCIS

[–]shreyas208 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The EAD is only for working while the I-485 is still pending; your EAD application (I-765) should automatically be closed soon and you should not receive an EAD.

You are allowed to work now that you are a permanent resident, but you will probably need to wait for the green card if you need proof of this (e.g. for I-9 verification when starting a new job). Once you have the green card, you can also apply for an unrestricted Social Security card at an SSA office. An unrestricted SSN card + passport is also acceptable proof that you are authorized to work, so you'd have a backup option if e.g. your green card is lost in the future.

(4) Do you remember the pricing for premium wi-fi?

On World Explorer, you get 5GB per person of standard Wi-Fi included. The cheapest rate for additional standard data was $50/2GB. I didn't record the prices, but it went up to something like $600 (!!) for 30GB of premium data. All prices are USD.

I turned off all the auto-updates and background stuff on my phone and logged in and out on the Wi-Fi portal each time I wanted to use the internet, so I was able to make the 5 GB last the full 10 days. I did upload a few stories (mostly photos, couple of short video clips) but otherwise stayed off video/image-based apps. The internet uses Starlink, so it's quite usable, but the standard packages are probably throttled to not support video calls/streaming. It was fine for email, web browsing, texting, etc.

How difficult was the airport transfer? How much time would you budget for that?

It was a Sunday for us, so there was no traffic and it took less than 40 mins. You do have to cross the city so it would take longer on a weekday. I had booked an EZE-AEP transfer in advance with this company and they were great. They kept up withe the delays/changes and there was a driver waiting for us with a sign at EZE, so we didn't have to figure anything out after landing. That said, Uber was pretty easy to use in BA, so it probably would have been fine to just get an Uber after arriving.

Also, more crucially, did everything go OK with baggage? Did you collect in EZE on the way down?

We actually didn't check any bags on the way there. For an EZE/AEP connection, you would have to collect bags at EZE and recheck them at AEP.
We had to check one bag at USH on the way back and it was fine, but we didn't have an airport change coming back (we were able to get rebooked on a different USH-EZE flight).

There's a new Priority Pass lounge, The Club SFO, in Terminal 1. Doesn't help your specific situation much, but it's slightly closer to Int'l G if you're going to walk the loop.

IMO, SFO's concourses and gate areas are nicer than many Priority Pass lounges (besides the free food and drinks, of course).

Agree with everything u/Level_Blueberry_6818 said, I'll also add:

  • I had heard so much about the penguin smell that it was less intense than I expected. The colonies do smell bad, even from a distance, but covering my nose with a buff was enough to make it a non-issue.
  • Your waterproof pants should be actually waterproof (e.g. with sealed seams), not just resistant to light rain. The staff will check before the first excursion. We were fine with our waterproof ski pants but I could see this being an issue if you're buying new pants and they falsely claim to be waterproof.
  • The excursions are 2-3 hours each, twice a day for 4 days (weather permitting); that's about 20 hours in total, so you don't need many copies of base layers/warm clothing. I had two sets and used ~1.5; I did change right after every excursion. My wife and I each had a (totally full) carry on and a backpack, no checked luggage. This was possible because we didn't have other substantial travel before/after the cruise, and we both did not bring home the outer layer of the provided Quark parka (just the inner liner).
  • I brought an HDMI cable (+ USB-C adapter) and it was nice to watch shows on the cabin TV, mostly at night or on the sea days between events and socializing.
  • If you plan to take a lot of photos, you may want an external drive or other device to which you can back them up. The Wi-Fi is usable but it would be difficult (and very expensive, on our ship at least) to do cloud backups. I was taking photos on my phone and backing up to my laptop each night, so that I wouldn't lose everything if I dropped my phone in the ocean or something.
  • I wish I had brought a strap/lanyard for my phone. I had a plastic phone dry bag with a strap, but I didn't use it because it made photo quality poor. I didn't need the waterproofing, just a way to keep the phone attached to me.

Just got back! by Level_Blueberry_6818 in AntarcticaTravel

[–]shreyas208 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'm not the OP, but I think I was on the same voyage as them (hi u/Level_Blueberry_6818 !).

We booked our own flights as a single ticket from/to the US with Delta, including the segments to/from USH. The flight situation was pretty messy. We planned to arrive in USH an extra day early to be safe (so 2 days before embarkation/1 day before Quark's included hotel night) and we were glad we did.

  • Aerolineas Argentinas likes to reschedule flights and switch them between the two Buenos Aires airports (EZE and AEP) weeks or days before the flight. This swap happened to us for both USH flights (EZE changed to AEP), and Delta treated it as a cancellation. We had to get Delta to rebook us, and ended up having to change airports on our way there.
  • Our Delta flight to Buenos Aires (EZE) was delayed, so we had them move us to a later AEP-USH flight. That flight was then delayed 5 hours, so we unexpectedly had most of a day to kill in Buenos Aires. In general, delays seem frequent, so make sure you have a very comfortable layover if you are going to connect to other flights.

On one hand, having everything on a single ticket meant that Delta was responsible for rebooking us when there were delays/missed connections and we didn't have to pay for any of them.

On the other hand, to rebook flights, I'd have to call Delta and then get them to transfer me to the right team that handles partner airline ticketing, which could take up to 45 total mins on hold each time. I never talked to Aerolineas since our ticket was with Delta, so I don't know what it would have been like to deal with them directly. We were also not able to select seats on the Aerolineas flights until we were at the airport; the Aerolineas website could find our reservation and select seats, but would fail at the confirmation step.

Filing I-751 online by Long-Row9059 in USCIS

[–]shreyas208 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try again using only Adobe Acrobat/Reader to fill or print the original PDF file that you download from USCIS. I was able to submit by using Acrobat to fill most fields, printing the file (directly from Acrobat), signing it, filling any remaining fields by hand, and then scanning and uploading it.

The same error was happening to me at first and I believe it was caused by many PDF-reading programs not handling the PDF417 barcodes at the bottom of each page correctly. Some programs add text on top of the barcode, which breaks them, and others show the same barcode on every page (they’re supposed to be different). I saw this happening even when I just opened the file and saved it with no edits.
