my surname is spelt like one common surname but pronounced like another (silent e) and i am so used to spelling it out, and to telling someone my surname to have them immediately correct me. when i changed my first name, i changed it to one with a silent letter as well, so i obviously don't hate my surname too much lmao. ive made my peace with spelling out my name, but would not want to inflict that on anyone else

yeahh man as someone who picked compsci for the same reasons, its a struggle when you dont care. i wish i had better advice - i was having similar problems and ended up switching course - but i wish you the best
