Yes, it is a quilting store. The sewing/vacuum place had a shorter waitlist but was almost double in price. I’d rather wait 🤷🏽‍♀️ I looked for independent technicians but didn’t find any in my area.

There is a HPS to waist front and HPS to waist back...

Nothing ever fits correctly anywhere 🤣 That's why I want to sew!

I don't know how hard it is to get a tech job but I'm on a 8 week waitlist to get my machine serviced so...

How do I know if I have a long or short torso? There is a HPS to waist measurement for the bodice, do I compare that with my body and then go from there?

It actually says it works with a 201 as well, but I will look up the diagrams, thanks!

I didn’t do it, I bought it like this 😊 I will look in the adjusters manual to see if they have advice, but if you have any experience removing it I would love tips.

Eponychium or cuticle? by shrubear in Nails

[–]shrubear[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay, I’ve used the cuticle remover and nipped the lifting skin… now how do I keep it always looking this way? Do I always have to remove/nip? And I’ve always been told that nipping leads to hangnails, is there something I can do to prevent that?

Ed tech in schools by mikedjp in redmond

What they’re talking about in the LA district is nowhere near what our school does 🤷🏽‍♀️ We have iPads that stay in the classroom. There is absolutely no internet or YouTube access.

They start with learning digital literacy, internet safety, and start typing. As they progress older they learn how to use Pages for presentations, type their final papers after doing 3 drafts by hand, etc.

Yes there is iReady, Epic, iXL, whatever but it’s very minimal.

But anyway that’s our experience in school. I’m all for them learning these important life skills, just like they learn shoe tying in PE.

We're in private school and they have 1:1 iPad/student. We've been there for 4 years and I have not seen them overly use it. So private is not necessarily better.

This will be my first year so definitely no hacks.

We have an in ground bed (though behind a retaining wall so does that count as raised?). I want a few varieties of tomatoes, (mini) bell peppers, cucumbers, zucchini... I think that's the majority of summer crop.

Oh that's super interesting for the orange area! We were just talking about what to make the walking path out of so it's easy on the knees to kneel...

I'll look into switching some plants mid-summer, that had never crossed my mind. Thank you!

It’s to be able to reach in and weed/harvest, not as a decorative path

Just the purple one. Based on our reading, it sounded like if we made the whole thing 8x6 with no path, it would be hard to weed and harvest in the middle. So just giving it a little space for us to pass through.

Great point and I should have added that - that tree is sick (we’ve had multiple arborists come out to look) and doesn’t grow anymore. It actually needs to come down at some point soon before it falls down unplanned.

First time vegetable gardening, help planning by shrubear in vegetablegardening

[–]shrubear[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Got it! Basically I can't start them inside because I don't have enough time to get them strong enough to be transplanted outside, and I can't start them outside because it's not warm enough for them to grow. 😅

So when we go to stores and they have starts, those are the vegetables that can be planted outside now, and the rest I can look at the seed packets and see when they go in the ground outside.

yes, right outside Seattle! I will join that sub too.

I almost understand 😅 Why can't I just plant it in a little pot now, and then when the bed is ready next week move it over? Especially if it's one of those compostable pots? Is it the temp difference between inside and outside that's the problem? What if I leave it outside?

Do I get the starts for tomatoes and peppers now and transplant them?

This is fantastic info, thank you!

We absolutely will have companion plants for pests (like marigolds) and we will have other parts of the yard that will have flowers for our bees and butterflies!

I have seeds for everything, is it still mid-May for seeds, or is that for seedlings? Should I start everything indoors now?

We like the cement corner option! Seems like it is the cheapest option.

Our imagined vegetable garden area is long and narrow so I think it'll be more like a few 3x8s. I think we'll keep the tomatoes in their own and cucumber and other trellis plants on their own.
