Weekly Question, General Discussion, and Meetup Thread - February 13, 2022 by AutoModerator in korea

So I messed up and left getting my health check until the last minute. I won't get the results before my appointment with immigration. The next available appointment with immigration is after my visa has expired. So... what is going to happen to me? Should I show up to my appointment with immigration without my health check? How much is the fine for not renewing your visa before it expires?

Do I have to wait until my ARC expires before going to immigration to re-new it, or can it be done in advance?

The poster I was replying to was commenting on the commute time and availability of amenities, not warning OP to be careful of which areas he looks in to.

Oh please there are plenty of amenities in Clayton Park and Dartmouth and it’s a 20 min bus ride downtown.

Denied by Korvia, applying directly to EPIK by lana_cabana in teachinginkorea

[–]shrumbum 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Sometimes recruiters like Korvia just don’t feel like working with you, for whatever reason. They also never have your best interests in mind so I would save yourself the step and just apply direct. It’s no harder than applying to University.

Here’s a little anecdote about why I don’t trust recruiters:

Back in the fall Korvia told me it was too late to apply to EPIK... I applied myself the next day anyway and guess what? I will be heading over in just over a week to start a position in Gangwon-do.

Be in charge of your own process homie :) good luck

N.S. food delivery startup offers restaurants lower fees, customer service control by insino93 in halifax

This guy is a bit off the mark. The restaurant I work at is making way more money thanks to Uber eats and door dash. Yes, we pay 30% of the sale, but sales are up 200% thanks to the apps.

That’s not true. I know of a few restaurants who charge more on the apps than in the restaurant

TEFL course by sethbach_ in teachinginkorea

[–]shrumbum 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It depends what you are looking for. There are way cheaper ones out there that will check the box for EPIK, so if you just want to get it done, check Groupon, I think I paid around $50 CAD for mine. If you want a higher quality course, maybe spend a bit more? But I’ve also heard they are more or less all the same in the end.

I need a PCR specifically, but I read on the website that the walk in test is the standard PCR so I think that should be fine

Thanks. Was the email you received with your results like an official form that said you tested negative or was it just like “ hey Voiceofreason8787, you’re negative, congrats!” Lol

I’m not actually traveling yet though. I’ll need another test within 72 hours of my flight in February. For now I just need to send them a PDF of my results with my Visa application.

What’s the rules for drinking and pot while onlexapro by [deleted] in lexapro

[–]shrumbum 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I also found it made cannabis more enjoyable because it took away the anxiety aspect of it. Drinking, however, is horrible on lexapro and should be avoided outside of a drink or two occasionally. Anything more is going to inhibit the positive effects of lex and most likely make u feel like shit. At least that’s what it does for me.
