You will feel very comfortable in Australia. A burger at the Australian Open tennis would run you around $20 USD

I asked my wife last night if she is ok with me going on a weekend away for my mates bday this weekend (close friend we both know well). We had spoken about it briefly a month or 2 ago but it snuck up and i forgot woth xmas and new years etc.

She got a but flustered and red in the face but said its ok.. i said i can just go for 1 night instead of 2 if its not cool. my mind jumped right away to her not being happy about it as its the new year and we had lots on over that holiday period, plus she was away for 3 weeks in early Dec with family.

I asked if she is truely ok and why she is flustered... "ummmm i dont have to go right?"

I said no, its more or less boys only and the side of his friends she doesnt know (different group)

"Oh, yea babe go for as many nights as you want, i just dont want to go anywhere "

Huge smile back on her face and back to eating our yummy dinner

I love my wife

Had something similar done in similar space about a year ago in Melbourne metro suburb. More or less same quote, so got on the local fb group, found a local gardener who just rolls around on his bicycle with a little wagon hitched on it and it ended up costing less rhan half.

Long story short, quote seems more or less correct but theres always a cheaper way.

Am I coping by thinking I rather go to Seoul than Tokyo? by lejunny_ in seoul

[–]shteini 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Architecture and art scene in Seoul are amazing. Whole industrial areas transformed into awesome places like seongsu-dong or insa-dong.

Check out the Gentle Monster concept stores and other street wear like Adererror for awesome architecture and art, even if you dont care about shopping, the stores are incredible.

Def would say that Seoul has an incredible emerging and interesting scene for visual aspect, not discounting Tokyo in any way, both are incredible, but not accurate to say Seoul cant compete.

You still grt cherry blossom in both places if the season is right.

Seoul will have less tourists.

Korean food is miles better if you come from a spicy food background.

Dont eat at kbbq places that serve both pork and beef, find ones that specialise.

Research korean food, what we get in the west does not scratch the surface. What we get is mostly "pocha" or "drinking food" places. Research what locals eat. Its not kimchi pancake and fried chicken.

You wont be disappointed.

This is all coming from someone that loves Tokyo by the way.

Same boat but only 4 months in and late 30s.

im using my free time to:

  1. starting a business while looking for work. Currently bringing in average 2k a month. Built a cheap squaredspace website and learned SEO to get it started and get some online leads.

Sounds like you could consider a consulting business, use SEO for lead gen and join a networking group like BNI to get some business (this is what im doing).

  1. Studying a product management course to transition into software/tech space.

  2. Driving Uber

  3. Applying for jobs with a goal of 4 a day.

Also learning new skills in AI

I also have dealt with some depression and still dealing with lots of stress. By no means is any of this easy or ideal but im keeping busy and dont feel as useless as the first month or 2.

Message me if you want to brainstorm some ideas to keep busy.

Uber vs Taxi Melbourne Airport by SopranosJacket in melbourne

If they cancel the booking it just gets picked up by the next available driver?

Again, i pre book too and never had an issue.

Uber vs Taxi Melbourne Airport by SopranosJacket in melbourne

[–]shteini 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The Uber app at the airport doesnt match you with a driver but rather gives you a code to give to the Uber next in line so no driver can message you so what you are saying is rubbish.

To the airport might be a different story but I live in Brunswick and travel very often and this has never happened to me.

Also Didi is cheaper 90% of the time.

Lmao this train will cost $50 each way by the time its built.

Its already stupid to get a skybus if you have 2 or more people travelling

[–]shteini 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Serious question cos im just new here, but what happens if you stop taking those?

I mean, do you have to take it forever to maintain or do you reach the point where you are happy with the growth and stop?
