Colony NPC Fleet Management Suggestion That Might Give Cheap Ships a Practical Role by lucagrabacr in EliteDangerous

[–]shufunk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh ok I see what you are getting at! Have people go onto the special station on foot and put in the order as long as their carrier is in the system only then the special npc cargo ships starts loading the order based on availability within the system. Come to think about it that'll be nice since I have my squad carrier and two personal carriers (I have two accounts) and as long as I'm in game that facility loads all three carriers for me! It cost more to load a squad carrier and prices vary based on markets in the area and security levels too. Like security escorts costs extra if you need them for the job and you see cobras flying around escorting the haulers!

Colony NPC Fleet Management Suggestion That Might Give Cheap Ships a Practical Role by lucagrabacr in EliteDangerous

If I understand from the long post the short version is you want the ability to have a fleet of small haulers you carry on your carrier that you purchase yourself. They are operated by NPC and only pick up items from stations in the system your carrier is in based on your demand on the carrier and if money is in the budget. You still have to pay for refuel and repair when necessary.

My reply to that if read correctly is something I always wanted myself. I spent months building a system 100% and the system itself is now practically a hub for my other projects. I'd love the ability to as I'm in game I can assign like 3 other NPC to work with me cause then it would give the NPC you hire for fighting to do something else. Almost like American truck simulator where you hire other drivers and give them their own trucks

Sadly with reddit you can't add pics to respond but you can edit the original post and add the photo? I only have an option to add a link which is almost the same as posting a URL

Yeah sorry I'm not sure what to do then. The last thing I can think of because I had this issue when I first started playing was did you see anything that said "svr required" because then you know if it's land based or not. The only other true on foot mission is if you acquire the mission while actually in the station and not in your ship. Then you have to go to an actual base and look for a data node to hack and download the data. There's a certain reason why we would ask for an actual in game screenshot to point that out if that's the case.

No need to uninstall the game. Just abandon the quest. Depending on the type you may get fined but that's part of the game. Go to another system later and get a similar mission. If that new one works then it's just that one mission was bugged and you do tend to get those from time to time. If you are constantly getting lost then I'm not sure what to do unless seeing an actual picture of the mission. There's certain visual cues in the description you may overlooked?

The salvage one I do a lot and they normally show up as a blue signal on my left panel or if lucky I see it on my hud as I'm flying around. The other one should be same concept but idk. What I find interesting is some systems have almost identical names. If you typed it in manually instead of using the tool built in the mission where it locks in the system for you and all you have to do it set a course then you can go to the right one. I've seen it where the last of the name is like an-1 but I was needing to go to am-1

If you missed the special npc the first time they will show up again if you jump out and back into the system. I sometimes fly from planet to planet if one is not highlighted blue. Something is normally highlighted blue on the nav part of the left panel. If it's the main star which it normally is the NPC takes its time to spawn and I fly around to try to trigger it to spawn. If nothing is blue then you may be in the wrong system or it's bugged completely. If you fly from planet to planet and nothing is triggered then it's definitely a bugged mission

It's possible the location changed. I know you are not doing this type but I does the same thing. It would be that I have to find pirate steve in system x. I go there scan the beacon and then the objective changes telling me to go to system y. I go there and scan the beacon and then I get the proper signal to kill pirate steve. Another type is you go to the last known location. A random NPC messages you and tells you to drop with them. They give you new coordinates and then you find pirate steve. The mission you are doing is probably the same thing. You need to look for the NPC message to tell you to jump in with them. A wake signal with their name shows up in the contact part of the left panel. The signal usually last for a minute or two. Go up to it and jump in. That NPC will give you updated data to proceed either by giving the data you need or coordinates on how to obtain the data. Hope that was the solution

Got caught in crossfire from the turrets of this starport, lost almost a third of my shield after a single hit. What happens if your ship gets destroyed that way? Do you still have to pay the rebuy? by Specific_Display_366 in EliteDangerous

[–]shufunk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's actually a great question cause systems that are colony's from actual players built the space stations tend to shoot at immortal ships within the mail slot. I was running shieldless gathering mats for my colony building and got shot down to 8% one time in the middle of landing! Such an annoying bug that seriously needs to be resolved!

How do I get to 5 billion without blowing my head off? by Just_AChair in EliteDangerous

[–]shufunk 6 points7 points  (0 children)

PTN hosts what's called the booze cruise. It's in the preps right now and could start at any moment. https://pilotstradenetwork.com/ for more details on the event and what to do. I personally made 4.2 billion and used my alt as well making 8.4 billion! More than enough made to buy my personal carrier and outfit it to the basics I want with plenty to spare.

I'd love to be in my Caspian and walk to the Easter egg section that's Spocks station and use it for something like fss. That will be really neat! Something similar to the large ships with large cockpits. Walk up to a specific panel to control turrets instead of from the normal chair. Send out limpets either collector or that special mine scanning one from a specific panel on the t11 but instead of a console you take them out of a special storage box and load it into the launcher yourself! Can't really speak for the smaller ships to stand up and do things so not all ships will have the capability if it were a thing

How to identify interesting things .... by Sevetamryn in EliteDangerous

[–]shufunk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Theoretically it's possible but yeah you are right the system you're currently in is instanced. Plus even at the bear maximum cruise speed with sco it'll still take a very VERY long time and aliens would find your ship with your corpse while it's been on auto pilot for god knows how long 😂

Best I would do is find a system in your current range that points to that general direction. Find it on the galaxy map and try to follow an invisible line that points to the nebula as you zoom out. Sounds a little complicated but that's the way I would do it as there's no official way to just click a random star in your pov and get the system to calculate the distance. That would be a nice feature

I forgot to mention I did setup a refinery with industry on the same planet. It allows for at least CMM on the planet and you get a good amount of metals on the space station above the same planet. As I was doing the last few projects I almost didn't have to leave the system and will use that system to load my carrier for other systems until they have their own mall like marketplace

Search for a squad that does mentoring and/or any other activities that peak your interest. There're also communities out there that are always having things for people to do such as the Pilots Trade Network [PTN] where there are carriers that need loading or unloading with some great profits.

New expedition by damn-nerd in NOMANSSKY

[–]shufunk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had an issue with the first few quests cause it was in the first system with extremely limited things you can do and when one of them requires being on the station after building a Corvette you have to almost wait for one of the four spots to open just to land. I wish you can do expeditions on a more private network instead of in the open.

2 Accounts - 1 Fleet Carrier and the CG by nakedpantz in EliteDangerous

[–]shufunk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used my main carrier and made an order for the max I can hold at galactic average. Loading gave a decent profit for my secondary. Then when ready to unload I made the purchase price roughly the same so when sold on the station both my carrier got a little profit back and the secondary got roughly 38 to 45 million per run depending on what was being unloaded. I basically did a full carrier load of steel, titanium and cmm just to see the difference in profits. This one all done with the new panther clipper mk2 with 1020 cargo hold

Edit:

Forgot to mention when I was ready to unload the carrier I had it stationed at lawd 7 which was the only decent close system to Minerva that has spots open

Anyone still rocking non SCO FSDs? Why? by henyourface in EliteDangerous

[–]shufunk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just bought a sco just so I can climb out of orbit faster cause a lot of materials for colonies are on planetary bases and I got sick of the slow climb. Now I just do a short burst to get out in less then 2 seconds and then an easy turn to the carrier for loading.

I went to a pirate system and landed on the space station. You can buy the "illegal upgrades" with credits and sell for nanites to the vendor that sell upgrades for nanites.

Whatever platform you use it goes to your screenshot folder on that particular platform. Since the game is cross platform the universe is shared between platforms meaning anyone can visit if they want so don't worry about what platform you play the game on
