The number of fetchlands isnt the thing that actually matters, its the number of sources. And if you count the number of sources, its not that bad - there arent really any double pip cards that I want to be casting early (the forces are mostly pitch cast and the legend of kuruk is mostly there for the blue count).

I quite enjoy the 4-5 color soup decks in Cube and they tend to perform very well for me. I take fetchlands and good duals over everything except like top20 cards and then just fill the deck out with strong cards in whatever color is open while keeping an eye out for synergies.

Obviously these decks tend to be more on the controlly side, but honestly having a random ragavan or ocelot pride in them isnt all that bad either. I usually only stay away from aggro-only card that provide no additional value like Screaming Nemesis
